This schedule cannot be done in 184 days due to the lack of 7 game weeks.
Here is what the schedule would require. 5 weeks for the divisional games. This is due to the fact that you have an uneven number of teams in the division. The opponent for the team not playing in division should be a team that they play their 4 game series against. We kill these off because it fits into a 7 game week and makes it easier to predetermine matchups for non-div game in division series weeks. This leaves 70 games non-division. This will require 11.667 weeks because we used all the 4 game series. Even if we did not use them the weeks would still be 6 games series since most teams play 3/3 series. This gives you 16.667 weeks. Now the interleague matchups do not have any 7 game weeks so the 60 games equals 10 weeks making the to 26.667 weeks add your ASB and we get 27 weeks. This will give you a min of 189 days with each team getting 23 off days a year (slightly higher than the MLB average) and will fit in a Mon-Sun schedule no half-weeks needed to extend schedule days. It is not the number of total games that determines the number of schedule days, it is actually the number of 7 and 6 game weeks, so this is the reason for the extra week. This schedule would also take time if I were to do it because of the difficulty of creating the best matchups because the divisions have odd number of teams. This can also lead to more 3 game homestand/roadtrips due to vast number of matchups needing to be kept track of outside of division games. I may not be the best match to create this, but if no one comes forward to do this, I would welcome the challenge. I am just letting you know that I cannot do it with the exact specifications of your request due to odd number of teams in a division and only 17% of the games being within the division. Give it some time and let me know. |

1. He made a request.
2. I responded on what it would require if I were to do it. This was on the boards for a bit and I decided I would offer to help him. 3. He replied with another solution. 4. I agreed to the solution, but he added a statement in the post that I felt was a slam on me and was factually incorrect. 5. I would have done this schedule if that one statement was not in the post. I was simply negotiating on what he expected and what I would provide. All I will say is that I will continue to do schedules for those that really want them and will never help this individual out in any way. He should of at least kept his request in this thread active so that others would have created the schedule for him or he should put his request in another thread and I will simply not open the thread. I really do want someone to take his request. Last edited by SandMan; 09-04-2016 at 12:32 PM. |
