Schedule Helper - may be useful to some...
I have attached the spreadsheet that I use to create the text that goes into the .lsdl file. I use this in all my schedules that I create. You are probably thinking "Why the hell would I want this?????"
I had a schedule in pdf format with all the game dates in a box in multiple rows and columns. I used this spreadsheet, added two columns on the side that had a the start date of the season and a 1 in column B. I then just dragged it to add one to the date field to the end of season date and then did the same for the day number. This game me a lookup column. All I had to do was add a date field before the "d" column, added the lookup using the date to get the day number. Don't even need to type the date 3 times, just drag it and it increments by one in the column. Just type in the away team number, home number for the first record. Go enter the date and away team for the next series and add all the teams home games. Just copy the home team number from the first record and you have all the home games for the team. Do this for all teams and then sort by "d" and "h".
This will give you the format you need to put into your schedule file. Just take any schedule file, modify the header, delete the games and then copy the column with the schedule file text and paste into the lsdl file.
Again you are probably thinking how can this help me? I found some files on the internet in pdf format with a row with a team with columns with all the teams and each row had a box with all the games versus the team in the row. I used a lookup to get the day number and simply typed in once the away team, and home team and just entered the dates and it created the text. I did 8 teams with a 140 game schedule in about 10-15 minutes. I have also done this with the files on the board from LeGrandeOrange. Did a couple PCL files and it took about 20 minutes.
This is also a good way to create a simple schedule quickly. If you write down your matchups and just enter the game against each opponent once all you need to do is to determine what day number you want the game. You can use a spreadsheet or just write the day numbers down or just go down sequentially.
I think this will work great for those that want to create their own schedules. Just play with this and let me know what you think and if this could be a tool for others to use or to let me know how to improve this for others to use. I have used this since 2009 when I converted the schedules from OOTP 6.5 format to the new format used today.
