52 teams, 2 subleagues schedule

I'd like another schedule. Here's the request.

Starts first Monday on or after June 9
Ends late September
120 games
Sundays are doubleheaders
No off days, 8 games per week
Interleague yes
Balanced no

52 teams
2 subleagues
8 divisions in each subleague (4/4/3/3/3/3/3/3 in each)

4-team divisions play 12 games against each division rival, 36 total
3-team divisions play 10 games against one division rival and 12 against the other, 22 total

With one exception, teams play 2 games against each non-division opponent regardless of subleague
The exception: When the four-team divisions play in interleague, each team plays only one opponent from each interleague division, in a 2-game series on the first 2 series of the season for each team
All other interleague falls in weeks 3-11, no Sundays
This makes each team play 120 games total
Only 2-game series (M-Tu, W-Th, F-Sa, Sunday doubleheader)

To make sure I have this straight...

The 3-team divisions - all teams play 22 division games and 2 games against all of the other 49 teams for the total of 120.

The 4-team divisions - play 36 division games, play 2 games against all other teams within subleague, play 2 games against all teams from 3-team divisions in other subleague, and play 2 games against only one team from the two 4-team divisions in the other subleague for the total of 120.

The obvious problem is that you cannot do the 10 & 12 games for the 3-team divisions. E.g., if A plays B 10 times and A plays C 12 times, then B needs 12 more games and C needs 10 more games. One solution would be to make it 12 & 12 to total 122 with the additional 2 games for the 4-team division teams coming from another interleague series against another 4-team division team.

11 and 11 with the 3-game series coming on the final Monday-Saturday, would be fine. Also, is it possible to do an All-Star game on the Tuesday after the season ends?

There is still the issue of there being three total 3-game series per 3-team division with only 1 intradivision series able to be played at a time while the other team from the division has to play an interdivision series of which their are none of 3-game length.

AFAIK, yes this can work, though I have not done or tested that in any recent version of the game. I am not sure what would happen if there are ties to be resolved for playoff spots, but I think those games may be played after the ASG in that setup.

What I really meant is you can make some of the interdivision series between teams from 3-team divisions 3 games as well to make this work. This means not every team will play each other, or the schedule can be expanded.

I have a different, but similar, idea.

64 teams
2 subleagues
8 divisions of 4 teams each in each subleague

Each team plays 10 games against each division rival (30 total)
3 games against each nondivision team in the same subleague (84 total)
2 games against 3 interleague opponents from each division (48 total)

Total: 162 games. Still no off days, but the season now runs 142 days starting in mid March, then the schedule's only off day, then the All-Star Game, and then the playoffs.

Both your idea in post #2 and mine in the last post are good for me.

I got this one all put together, then I realized the 142 days thing. So I went in to put the doubleheaders, but the way I had games laid out with a mix of 2-game and 3-game series the always-Sunday doubleheaders do not work out. That is because the games to combine onto the same day are sometimes from different series. So can some of the doubleheaders be on Saturdays (or Mondays)?

Yes. You can also make the schedule longer than the 142 days.

So the attached in 162 games in 162 days. I could do the in 142 days way with weekend DHs on Sat or Sun.

Do you still need that 52-team, or is the 64-team taking the place of that?

The solution I finally got to was 124 games so there would be even 62/62 home/away. The extra 2 games are yet another 2-game series for the 4-team division teams coming from another interleague series against another 4-team division team, and playing one more interdivision series against one opponent.

Just so you know, the file names of the .zip files are too long for my system to handle.

I am able to rename the zip and get it to work. I would prefer to leave it as is and leave it to the user to deal with it like that. But if you cannot even download or rename the file, that is a different story.

What crashed? The unzipping process or the game when trying to load the schedule?
