Final 1919 Standings
The Washington Senators beat both the Boston Red Sox and the St Louis Browns to claim the American League title. Oscar Charleston (.320, 14 HR, 107 RBIs) was the hero, hitting for the cycle in a 9-6 victory over the Brown. The Senators will take on the Boston Braves in a best of 9 series. The Braces last appear in the World Series back in 1906 as the Boston Beaneaters, in which they lost to the Cleveland Naps. Washington is making their 3rd appearance in the past 4 years. Having won it all in 1916 and 1917, the Senators are hoping for their 7th Championship.

Off Season Moves
Two trades to bolster our attack for the 1920 season. Shipped Jim Viox (.287, 9 RBIs in 1919) off to Baltimore and receiving pitchers Jeff Tesreau (2-4, 4.09 in AAA) and Lefty Grove. We ship pitcher Harry Harper (5-6, 3.98 in 1919) off to the Cardinals and pick up a more experienced pitcher in Hooks Dauss (10-18, 2.79 in 1919) League News Today the League voted on updating the rules. Active Roster Size decreased to 20 from 24 Spring Training Size decreased to 26 from 30 Expanded Roster Size decreased to 25 from 30 Disabled Length shortened from 15 to 14 days

Both teams have their work cut out for them. Both Boston team are on streaks, the Red Sox are on a roll with 7 straight wins while the Braves are on a five game run. Both League leaders are enjoying slight leads. Jacob Reiser (St Louis Browns)is the pitcher to watch 6-0, 1.53 ERA. It is still too early to tell in the season. The Pittsburgh Pirates opened up their lead over Brooklyn to 6.5 games, while St Louis increased theirs to 4 over the Senators. Nobody is hitting the ball out of the ball park and Shoeless Joe Jackson (Pittsburgh Pirates) is hitting over .425. Walter Johnson (Washington Senators) picks up his 300th win Standings Batting Stats Pitching Stats Washington Senators Report Record 42030: 2nd Place 4 GB St Louis Another mediocre month (15-12) for June. Lost 3 of 4 to last place Philadelphia. Joe Sewell once again was named Rookie of the Month. Around The Diamonds A tight race is on in the Negro League, 2 games separate the top 4 teams. Standings Batting Stats Pitching Stats Washington Senators Report Record 59-41: 2nd Place 6.5GB St Louis Eppa Rixey is named Pitcher of the Month (6-1, 2.45). A slightly better month of July (17-11) than June. Swept the Tigers to cap off the month. Around The Diamonds In the PCL, Tom Lukanovic (San Fransisco Seals) pitched a No Hitter and then was traded to Charlotte in the North Carolina State League.

Both leagues saw some changes. St Louis went south with an 9 game losing streak. Pittsburgh saw a 7 game skid. Brooklyn gained a single game. Braves' Babe Ruth has 27 home runs and needs 2 to tie his mark set in 1918. Shoeless Joe Jackson is hitting over .400 and could be very well above that mark at the end of the season. There are 15 games or so left in the American League, while 10 remain in the National League. Babe Ruth (Boston Braves) hit home run #30 and needs just 1 more to tie Roger Connor's single season mark from 1889.

The Washington Senators are back in the World Series, having lost last season to the Boston Braves. Pittsburgh on the other hand are hoping for revenge from the1917 WS. The Pirates have not won since 1886 and are 1-7 in titles. Washington is looking for their 7th title.

Looks like the team to beat in the American League are the Washington Senators. Backed by Walter Johnson's 9-0 effort in June, Washington has opened a sizable lead over second place Cleveland. In the National League, the Brooklyn Robins are sitting out in front of the Philadelphia Phillies by 9 games. Brave's Babe Ruth leads all batters with his 22 home runs. Standings Batting Stats Pitching Stats Washington Senators Report Record 79-26: 1st Place Senators are on a 10 game roll to close out the month. Hack Wilson (.327, 4 HR, 19 RBIs) is named Rookie of the Month and Eppa Rixey (8-0, 1.75) is named Pitcher of the Month. Walter Johnson set a record for the most conservative win with 13, the Rixey broke it with his 14th. Around The Diamonds In the PCL, the Los Angles Angels are 91-38, Frank Lankenau is 20-4, 1.51 leads their attack. Lou Gehrig is still in the Texas League and hitting .341 with 19 HR and 84 RBIs. Jim Bottomley (Charlotte Hornets) in the North Carolina State League is tearing it up with his .421 BA and 20 HR, 91 RBIs. Jim is looking for a repeat of the his rookie season where he lead the Hornets to a Championship.
