hmm you can disregard my last post i guess. after trying this workaround, it seems to be working fine. advancing one day at a time did not reproduce a crash

when i advanced past July 1, i got the Processing Next Season loading box, which I hadn't seen the last few times it crashed.

First crash. Happened in June, after the Stanley Cup was finished. Simmed up until July 14th then crashed. No warning, just closed.

Playing with the Penguins in the NHL, I had some injured players coming back to form. I was to scratch an AHL call-up Alex Grant, but the game started talking about Luke Adam (same guy mentioned in some other thread). After that Grant stayed dressed and couldn't be scratched, so after saving I shut the game down and loaded it up again. Now I could scratch Grant and sent him down to AHL while dressing another D-man. As a result the game crashes every time I try to finish up the day with a game.

Here's the fiddelydoodah from MS error report, if it helps. Can send out the save folder as well if needed.

I can also confirm this crash. It happens every time I try to play the first game of the season. Just hitting the play button and before one minute is over, game crashes.

I started a season as the oilers and after I played the very first game of the season, I could not sim past the next date, even if I tried to sim to a specific date after it, I could not it would crash both times.

My game keeps crashing and I have no other option than too start over again. Won't be the first time or the last time. Everything now is experimental till they take care of all the bugs.

Got my 1st crash. It happens on the in-game date of June 30th, when the Free Agent file comes out. The only way to get past that date is to tell it “Finish Today” There are options in the Sim until…. (Game date, Week, , Month, Year). But any choice I make from that area causes a crash. And the Sim until event area is empty.

I even tried to trick it and “sim until…date (July 1st) but it crashed. The only way to get past june 30th is to select “Finish today” Once you get to July 1st all of the “Sim to Events” show back up and it’s good to go.

Once I get to July 1st I can sim all the way through everything until the next free agent file (which stops once again at June 30th), but the only way to get from june 30th to july 1st is to choose “Finish Today”

After season two the game crashes on/after July 1st each time. I too have tried several times. Guess we can only play up to two years for now. The draft class in year two was empty as well.

EDIT: Let me just add that players ages 14 and 15 are populating NHL team draft rights screens. I imagine this would have something to do with the player pool runing out.

So i wanted to make sure the game could run on my old laptop before i purchased it. I downloaded the game and installed it but every time i try and open it i get and error message saying.

"The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem."

So i cant even get to the activation screen. I have tried reinstalling it a bunch of times, and i am not great with computer specs but i think i meet the minimum requirements.

Windows XP sp3
1.86 GHZ
2G RAM
1024x768 display

Any help would be great cause once i get it running i will buy it, thanks in advance.

P.S. due to a recent crash it is a relatively fresh install if xp if it matters at all.

Yup, that's probably it - we had someone getting the same error message earlier in the day, and he had just done a system restore. Installing the file available at Download Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from Official Microsoft Download Center fixed it for him, apparently something had gone wrong with his C++ runtime files. Give that a shot and let me know if it doesn't work.

I simulated historic mode succesfully 10 season starting from 1947, but game keeps crashing when I try to continue from September 24th 1957.

I think there might be the reason it crashes. Every other team but Montreal just disappeared.

I ran into a crash I can’t get past, I have started at the Historical beginning (47/48) and set my team control to my assistant coach. I’ve made it all the way to THU Aug 1, 1957 and have encountered an unavoidable crash. No matter what I select the game crashes. I was simming the off season and I hit esc to stop the sim as I noticed that Gordie Howe was a Free Agent (again) after viewing his profile I was unable to continue the simulation. I can’t advance using any item in the Play Menu. I have this file saved if you need it.

Also in this same file as I look at Gordie Howe I realize via his career stats that he didn't play in the 50/51, 51/52, 52/53 Seasons He played in the 53/54 seasons but then he didn't play again in the 54/55,55/56 or 56/57 season. All the while he was a free agent in those seasons yet no one signed on of the greatest players ever!

So Gordie Howe has only played in 4 of the 10 seasons I've simmed so far!
