Players not learning new positions

Is there an issue with players learning new positions? I have an absolute stud shortstop, Glenn Wright, in my historical league (1925 start year) and after having started 138 games with over 1100+ innings played at 2nd base in 1925, he still doesn't know 2nd base whatsoever. He's right handed bats/throws so the "can't learn infield positions as a left handed player" doesn't apply.

In the editor he still has 0 experience at 2nd base. I don't understand how this is even possible....You can see in the screenshot below that he has super ratings across the defensive ratings. He was a 91 rated SS before I played him the entire 1925 season at 2b, so his defensive skill there has dropped, but no defensive skills at all at 2nd. Why??

Could you post his career fielding tab vice the batting tab. May be nothing, but may shed some light on something that appears off.

Here is the career fielding stats. As you can see, roughly 9 innings per game for 138 games at 2nd...

Addendum: It appears no player that I try to teach other positions will learn a new position. Just tried with Travis Jackson who is an even better fielder....refuses to learn 2b. I also added experience to Glenn Wright via the editor...and after 75 games, no change. So literally it is impossible in my current offline league for any player to learn a fielding position, even after editing him.

For the editing part, you may just need to advance a day for the position rating to update. I don't have any explanation for the fielders not learning positions, maybe something specific with your historical play settings?

Well I just modified one setting and that changed things.. Apparently the "Recalc player ratings at the beginning of each season based on their real stats" means they don't learn new positions. What is bizarre is I don't have player development turned off, so players are developing (declining, improving) as one would expect, other than their fielding... Once I turned that off, suddenly Glenn Wright started becoming quite the 2b and quickly.

Yes, if you use the historical recalc with "entire career" fielding mode, then players will not learn positions as you play, since their fielding will simply get reset every year anyways.
