Yeah, I'll have to double check but I think he came into the league as an international amateur free agent with high potential. But everything must have aligned in his development and, like you said, with talent boosts to turn him into that monster. I'll probably never see anything like this again. 1055 home runs, 12 years with an OPS over 1.000, 16 years with a batting average over .300, 4125 hits, and 2855 RBI's. That 1961 season has to be among the greatest single season performances in the history of sports. And one thing that can't be overlooked is that he barely missed any time during his entire 22 year career. Just a crazy good career!

Not only was he a stud but he stayed healthy and maintained his ability over his career. i think they pop up every 100-200 years or so. i've only *noticed one batter so far. i've seen a couple pitchers that were an equivalent, too.

The batter was nicknamed "The Legend" and had over 200+power and nearly 200 contact. solid everywhere else too - could steal 20-30 bases a year and great defense at SS then shifted around as he lost range. default pcm's, so the only difference in output are the modifiers and such of the league. if i recall 100%, he sniffed at 60hr a few times and topped out at .398BA in a season.

(oops, i do have a equal reduction of avoid K's pcm and increase to babip pcm of .050)

I forgot to post his post-season totals. Looks to have been pretty clutch. 103 games with .374/.456/.686..33 homers and 101 RBI's. 8 WAR. Looks to have struggled a few years, but was incredible a few of the others.

Also, I edited the OP to add that to go along with the 14 MVP's he also finished 2nd in voting on 5 other occasions. So he was 1st or 2nd in MVP voting 19 out of his 22 years in the WBA.

Also of note, he had 19 career Grand Slams.

What I find amazing is that he has 376 more HR's than the #2 guy ...

... while only 18 players even hit more than 376 HR's in their career

And only three of the 31 players shown in the screenshot are still active, and no one is even close to 3rd place.

I have to admit, I've never seen anything like it.

1000 home runs? That's insane.

I have a prospect in my Braves dynasty that is the best prospect I've ever seen. I signed him as a 16-year old amateur for $7 million, and he initially had contact/power potential of 112/86. It's fluctuated around a little (some because I switched scouts) but now he's going into 2019 as a 19-year old with 99/92 potential. He's got 93 speed, and he's a pretty solid infielder, with a range of 90 and an arm of 84. He's gonna be in AAA for at least another year though, he's only at 58/39 contact/power at the moment and I want him to switch over to 3B instead of SS. Regardless though, I doubt even if he stays healthy he'll ever approach those totals.

It's what this game brings to those of us who love spectacular accomplishments. We shouldn't analyse it, enjoy it.

What kind of league totals do you have? in a .399 slugging environment i see handful of players reach 600+ HR in ~100 years. you go just .005 up from that slugging pct. it's like a 10-15% power boost to your players (assuming its from elevated hr and not a mix). you then see a handful of 700+ hr guys and the outliers like the OP's player go even higher, of course.

i can't remember if that "Legend" dude hit 700 or 800+?? it was more than i had seen before that's for sure. so, 1000 hr wouldn't take that much extra ooomph in the LTMs or the totals to start.

At first I thought it was an error, like maybe something was off in my league and I was going to see a bunch of ridiculous power numbers when I clicked on that area of the leaderboards. But no, he was just ridiculously amazing.

I still can't get over 1,000 home runs.

I used automatically adjusted league totals modifiers, similar to what anyone would use in an MLB historical replay.

Here's an updated leaderboard in 2050. I think it's safe to say his record is safe.

Does anyone know if I can "save" this player and transfer him into another game to have him appear as a rookie in another save file?

I'd like to basically copy him and have him play out his career in my fictional MLB save and see how he does in that league using modern settings.

I want to know the story of him leaving Houston. Was he a free agent, and if so what did his contract look like? And it was a trade, what the hell does Houston get in return?

Also that Bennett guy changes teams every couple of years. Must be the biggest jerk in the world.

He entered the WBA as a 16 year old international amateur free agent in 1954 and was signed to a Minor league contract by the Houston Red Knights (randomized team names) with a $13,200 bonus. In 1962 he signed a massive 7 year extension with the club worth a reported $819,000 but had an opt-out clause added for the 1964 off-season, which he executed and became a free agent.

2 weeks later he signed a 6 year contract with the Boston Bass worth $1,276,000, but again he had it worked into the deal that he could opt out after the 2nd year.

Now this is where it gets interesting. He decides to opt out and then 10 days later, he signs a brand new 6 year extension with the Bass, this time for $1,812,000. Must have felt he wasn't being paid enough. And hell, he probably could have asked for whatever he wanted lol Look at that production. Anyways, he had the usual opt-out added in after the 2nd year, but this time he decided not to use it.

Suggia and the Bass won their 1st WBA World Series in 1971 beating the Brooklyn Vipers, after which he played 1 more season with the club and became a free agent in 1972. As a soon to be 35 year old, he signed a 2 year contract with those same Brooklyn Vipers, who just won the World Series a few weeks prior against..you guessed it, the Boston Bass..for $760,000. They went on to win the 1973 and 1974 World Series, beating Suggia's old club in Boston both times. He then decided to stick with the Vipers, signing a new 2 year extension in 1974, this time for $968,000.

Fast forward to November 1976 and Suggia, now about to turn 39, decides to return to Boston on a 2 year, $968,000 deal. 1978 rolls around and he signs what would be his last contract. Another 2 years to Boston for $1,380,000. He retired in October 1980.

So yes, from 1971 through 1974, the Bass and the Vypers played eachother in the World Series each year. What a story that would be!

I love OOTP.

I'm thinking of re-naming the MVP award as the "Tiburcio Suggia award" but it kinda sounds funny. Do you guys name the awards after fictional players in your leagues?

Yep definitely do. I usually sim 30 years, then rename the awards after the most dominant pitcher. I tend to stay with Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award names. I've done both with keeping Jackie Robinson ROY as well as picking one of the most dominant ROYs in my league's history.

Since he's long retired, I unfortunately don't have much info in terms of ratings. The only thing I have in that regard to post is his OSA ratings from his player history screen.
