Contract questions - newbie, please help!
Loving the game but not yet understanding it.
I'm playing a fully fictional league with no inaugural draft (randomly assigned players). After league creation, many of the MLB active roster players were on minor league contracts. Went through spring training and found the players I wanted on my team for opening day. Had them on the active roster for opening day. Then opening day arrived and many were on minor league contracts. And since it takes them days to accept offer, I was screwed since it was already opening day. So next time, I started to try to fix that earlier before the end of spring training. For players in spring training on my active roster, that I want to keep on my MLB active roster for opening day, but that have minor league contracts, I need to sign them to major league contracts. Here's my questions: 1. The only way I can see to do that is to "offer extension" which seems weird because I feel like I'm offering a new MLB contract. Is "offer extension" the right way to get a minor-league contracted player in spring training on the MLB active roster for opening day? 2. Is that covered by the "budget for extensions" line in the front office? If so, I'm in deep doo doo. The boss has given me 387k for extensions, but I'm pretty sure I don't have enough MLB contracted players to fill an active roster. Kinda feels like there's no way to succeed here. What am I missing? Hints appreciated. |

Players on minor league contracts automatically get a major league minimum contract when promoted to the majors during the season. Give it a day to show up.
