Edit media contract/market size

I started a standard MLB game with the Tigers but did a fantasy draft on the second day. After the draft I noticed that my team had a huge budget ($380,000,000) which was much higher than any other team and much higher than I'd ever seen before.

Looking at the Accounting page, I realised this is because I had a huge media contract (media revenue was $235,000,000). I thought I could edit this after the season completed so the first day in the off season I went to Team Settings in the hope that I could edit the media revenue or market size (as from what I understand, these two are linked) but I couldn't see that option.

My media revenue went up to $257,500,000 for the next season. I want to reduce this to have a more realistic league. Is there a way I can do this?

Thanks.

I believe if you do an inaugural draft the game sets your players' contracts according to skill and major league service time (with a random element), and then sets your club's market size so it can actually afford all of these players. In my case the result was an "ASTRONOMICAL" market size. My guess is you drafted a lot of highly skilled - and paid - veterans, acquired a massive payroll, and then had your market size and budget adjusted so you could actually afford that payroll. (You didn't exactly do an inaugural draft, but the fantasy draft serves a similar purpose.) I think your owner's ratings affect the budget as well; I keep struggling with payroll even at my ASTRONOMICAL market size club because my owner's a cheapskate and figures if I've been winning him titles with $260 million there's no reason for him to go a cent higher. Thanks a bunch.

That's of course complete conjecture. But if your market size is indeed ASTRONOMICAL, try to reduce it.

Yeah, my market size is ASTRONOMICAL as well. I did draft a lot of high killed/paid veterans but lots of them were got one year deals, so lots will be leaving. Will my market size adjust accordingly?

I don't think it will do so on its own. You kind of turned the Detroit Tigers into the Detroit Scrooge McDucks. You can tone down your financials via commissioner mode, though, right?
