True Neutral Baseball League seeking owners before 13th season

Welcome to the True Neutral Baseball League!

Here's our basic information:

OOTP Version: OOTP 20
Players: Fictional
# Of Teams: 24 (1 league, balanced schedule)
Exports Days: Sunday through Thursday, 9:00PM Eastern. We've also added 1 additional weekend sim during the pandemic.
League Time Per Sim: 7 days
Current Season: 2044 offseason. Just finished 2043 WS on 4/11/20.
DH: Yes
Communication: Slack
Live sims? 2-3 times a week (rest of the sims are offline).

Who we are and what we’re looking for

The True Neutral Baseball League is based on a single defining principle: Neutrality. If you've ever played in a league that was unbalanced or unfair from market-to-market, that's not the case in this league. Market sizes are equal. Park factors are equal. The DH is standardized. Media Revenue is equal. You get the idea.

We just finished up our 16th season and have reached a point of stability with a core group of GMs. However, we are looking to fill our opening(s) with GMs who are seeking an especially active league. We value activity on Slack and availability for trade discussions moreso than export percentage. If that sounds like you, then we’re interested.

Website and Podcast

Over the last couple seasons, our members have begun creating content off the league. On TNBLGraphs.com, we’re producing stories like top prospect lists, HOF prognostications, minor league system rankings and lot more.

We’ve also developed a podcast that discusses the league at length. It’s still relatively new, with three episodes being produced so far. Topics include trade deadline recap and playoff predictions. There are future plans for the podcast, including amateur draft analysis, hot stove talk, opening day predictions and other items.

League History

The TNBL is going into its 16th year (will hit 3 real-life years in June). We’ve had multiple commissioners in our history but are currently led by Andrew, who owns the ever-rebuilding Durham Bulls. Our previous commissioner, Will, is still an active member of the league. Going into the 2037 season, this is as stable of a league as you’ll find.

As far as our history goes, there’s too much to say to fit in a paragraph. We have everything from one-hit wonders (Hee-Joon Joung) to all-time greats (Carlos Mateo) to living legends (Gan Bi) to up-and-comers still earning their stripes (John Field). We have tales of legends that once were (David Veloz) and about prospects who can see the light at the end of the tunnel (Arend Johannsen).

Every two seasons, we hold a tournament in the winter. Our first two tournaments were very competitive, with The United States and Canada bringing home the gold. But nations such as Iceland, Taiwan, Venezuela, Australia, North Korea and others have proven to be very competitive. We run this tournament prior to spring training in odd years (2041, 2043, 2045, etc).

We want you to come and learn more about our history, and this is a great time to do so. With 10 years comes the start of discussions about building a Hall of Fame for our most accomplished players. We’ll also be producing an “All-Decade” team before too long and we want as many active voices in those discussions as possible.

Current openings

Panama City — Finished 2nd in the standings and reached the semifinals in the playoffs despite not having a GM for most of their season. Arguably have 2 of the 5 best young OF in the game in Burt Powell and Toni Mickelson. Some good vets in the lineup as well. Pitching isn't as elite but rotation is average. Farm system is limited but the young MLB talent means this team still has a bright future. Only $76M on the books for next season and declines after that.

South Denver —*This team has a couple stars in Eddie Bazan and Jose Gomez, but this team will need a rebuilding effort relatively soon. They've made the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years but this is a high floor, low ceiling roster as currently constructed. The cap sheet is open after this season with only $71.8M on the books for the season after this one. The farm system is light, but could be re-stocked by trading some veterans.

Other info

We use Slack for communication and we have Slack linked with Stats+. No forums, no emails chains.

I highly recommend TNBL. The commishes are fair and consistent with sim schedules, the GMs are active and professional, and the league structure keeps things interesting by promoting parity. I've been in the league for the past four seasons and each season has seen a new champion emerge. Also adding to the fun is the occasional league podcast one of the GMs produces. Jump on board while an opening is available!

Only Boston is open now. We're mid-draft right now, but there's still time for a new GM to come in and make a first round pick (No. 7 overall) for their new team.

2 teams open. We're currently in a short break between the 2040 World Series and the offseason. If you jump in now, you'll still have time to re-sign players, do FA, the draft, etc.

Cincinnati Roses —Finished 8th this season despite not having an active GM to steer the ship. Scored the most runs in the league and had 7 different players with 20+ homers. Starting Pitching and Bullpen aren't terrible but could use some TLC. A few prospects to work with but no elite guys. Only $133M on the books for next season.

Birmingham Blinders —Top 10 offense with a young pitching staff. Wins weren't there this season though, as they have the No. 9 pick in the draft. $108M on the books for next season. Middling farm system but there's some solid talent in there.

If interested, email TNBL.OOTP@gmail.com

Great league! Have been in it from the beginning, 13 seasons. Has 5 different guys that can run the sims so things don't get slowed down when someone is on vacation, etc. Truly recommend this league and would enjoy having you!

Accidentally had our version as OOTP 19 in the header. It's been updated as we're entering our 2nd season with OOTP 20.

Cincinnati has been filled. Birmingham still open. We've just hit free agency, so plenty of time to shape your roster this offseason.

We have an opening! We just wrapped up the 2041 World Series last night and will be starting the offseason soon with salary arbitration.

Send an email to TNBL.OOTP@Gmail.com if you're interested.

Panama City Pilots — This is an ideal spot for someone looking to do a quick rebuild and potentially have a playoff team within 1-2 seasons. Panama has a solid group of young hitters and an above average rotation (8th out of 24 in starters ERA). A few veterans who could be flipped for prospects if you want to go that route. Most importantly, they have CF Burt Powell in AAA, who looks like he might become the best all-around CF we've seen in a long long time. Farm system ranks 8th.

I'm looking for a league where you can reach every GM and they will respond. If that is THIS league, i'm definitely interested.

Birmingham is open! We're at the very start of FA so there's plenty of time to make an impact this offseason. Email TNBL.OOTP@gmail.com if interested.

Birmingham Blinders — Playoff team. Really strong starting rotation but the lineup needs to be rebuilt. Also have a good backend of the bullpen and only $55 million on the books this season. No bluechippers but several quality pieces in the farm. You could do far worse than Birmingham for picking a franchise to take over.

Current openings

Panama City — Off to a good start this season at 20-15 in mid May.

We're midseason but it's still a good time to join up in this league & this is a good situation to jump into. Either PM me or email TNBL.OOTP@gmail.com if you're interested.

We have 2 openings heading into 2044.

Baton Rogue —*Historically an above average team. 10 playoff appearances in 16 seasons, but missed the playoffs this past season due to an inactive GM. They have 2 legit aces in Daniel Small and Yoshio Mukai. No superstars on offense but still a solid squad that's much better than their record a year ago. Top 10 farm according to OSA with less than $80M on the books for next season.

Please DM or email TNBL.OOTP@gmail.com if interested.
