"Player Ratings Relative To..." select active despite not being enabled

Imported a save from OOTP 17 in which I manage a minor league (Rookie League) team.

Getting into the game, I notice all of the player OVR/POT ratings seem greatly inflated. I notice in the game settings that "All player ratings are displayed relative to:" is unchecked but has the Rookie League selected in the dropdown.

After selecting the Major League option in the dropdown the ratings adjust to something similar to what I'm used to seeing for such a low level (21/22, etc).

In summary, the "All player ratings are displayed relative to:" setting seems to be getting applied whether or not the actual setting box is checked.

I can attest to something not being right. Freshly imported file and everyone's ratings are vastly different across the board.

I don't see the vastly different element here, other than 17 seems to have Show Over Max instead of cut off. Be sure you're comparing pane to appropriate pane.

The rating scale is completely different than 13-14-15-16-17. The displayed ratings do not match the editor ratings.

I am showing comparing panes. In 17 the player is a 9/8/8/5/9 and in 18 he is a 8/7/8/4/9 that is pretty different.

We can look into it some more certainly about your original point, but there are always tweaks and edits to how ratings can get calculated, so certainly some players could shift by a point in either direction.

So this is what I found, I don't know if this was a mistake or intended (It's certainly not consistent).

The 1 rating is 30 points but every rating after is 20 points. Which is deflating every 10-point rating by 1/2 a rating from OOTP17.

Posted this in it's own thread.

I have a similar problem with a newly-created fictional league.

The "All ratings are displayed relative to" box is unchecked, but the dropdown menu next to it was displaying the low minor league in which I am a manager. All major league players had Five-Star Overall and Potential ratings while nearly all minor league players had Five-Star Potential.

Leaving the box unchecked, I selected the major league in the dropdown menu and the ratings have changed to what should have been displayed. The player attributes (power, control, speed, etc.) were unaffected, only the Overall and Potential ratings were affected.

I am playing on Mac and with Challenge Mode enabled.

Any updates from the devs concerning the original bug detailed in this thread?

I toggled my relative setting around and it did what it is supposed to do. Make them appear better when the level is lower and worse when it was up to ML level.

Seems like they may need to look at your file.

Was it toggling the relative settings around even when the checkbox next to the dropdown was unselected? That's what it seems to be doing in my version.

In OOTP 17 you couldn't even change the dropdown if the checkbox was unselected.

I looked at the settings of a player with ML with it checked, R-Ball with it checked & ML & R-ball with it unchecked.

The 2 checked were both different than when it was unchecked. So it did work properly on my file.

I noticed the same difference when I started a new game and
used a check-mark for "relative to MLB".

OOTP18 gave me the following Edwin Diaz pitching stats:
Stuff: 80/80
Movement: 45/50
Control: 50/55

The movement/control ratings seemed to be lower across
all players so I checked my OOTP17 numbers and adjusted the
player ratings in the editor to make sure I was looking at the
same player in both OOTP versions with the same numbers.

OOTP17 (no check-mark but MLB greyed out) showed the following for Edwin Diaz:
Stuff: 80/80
Movement: 60/60
Control: 55/60

However, upon further review, both OOTP17 and OOTP 18 actually seem to be producing the same results if you
enable the check-mark and select "MLB" in either version.

The odd difference is when you don't select the check-mark but it shows "MLB". The ratings seem to be slightly higher.

So one can easily think that you have relative to MLB selected (since this is what is shown) but it seems to be a different rating system (not sure which one).

This happens in OOTP17 and OOTP18 if you play with the check-mark.

Yes, the relative system computes the ratings in an entirely different way and the normal system.
