League migration: DMB to OOTP
Is there anyone who has administered the migration of an existing multi-owner league from Diamond Mind Baseball (DMB) to OOTP? Or anyone who has been a passive part of such a migration?
DMB has stopped updating its game as of its Version 11 about six years ago. I have been playing DMB for over thirty years, all on a PC. I am considering recommending OOTP for our league as a whole or perhaps just joining an a new or existing OOTP league. OOTP looks a bit daunting and I didn't want to spend a lot of time trying to learn it if it doesn't have certain selling points. First, it needs to migrate a 30-team league (with keeper rosters) from one season to the next. I am going to presume that capability is there. Second, it would be a huge selling point if the game can be hosted on a "neutral server" that is always current (something lacking with DMB and our league). Games should be able to be played head-to-head, versus the computer manager, or simmed altogether, if both, only one, or neither owner can play their scheduled game before the end of a scheduled day. If there is someone who would be kind enough to call me to discuss further or can insert me into their league for a trial game so I can see first hand, I would be greatly appreciative. I am based in Pittsburgh and can be reached by phone at 412.573.0100 and email at PNCParkTimeShare@yahoo.com. If anyone is near Pittsburgh in the tri-state area, I would be willing to travel to take a closer look. Sincerely, Rick V. |
