Rule 5 Draft Question
In our online league we have the rule 5 coming up but I'm not sure what the dollar amount listed next to each team in the draft rules page is? Is that a fee you pay for drafting in that slot? Is that what the player you draft salary becomes? Anyone know? The instructions aren't real clear.
This is the screen I'm talking about.... https://ibb.co/QPYYBmj |

I don't think the dollar amounts mean anything for the Rule 5 draft. I don't see why they would.I think they just exist because they are using the same engine as they use for the amateur draft.

If it's a rule 5 draft then none of them have mlb contracts since they aren't in the 40 man. So they should all be for rookie minimum

Rule 5 players are all minor leaguers. The dollar value represents what they will make as major leaguers (as they will have to remain on your ML roster all season.)

Most players dfa would have minimum but it's possible to have a normal contract.
You sign a free agent to a 3 year deal at 4 million. He gets dfa and if he is eligible for rule 5 he contract still counts. Its just not super usual |

If it were true that a player taken in the first round of the Rule 5 draft would get millions of dollars, no one would ever take a player in the Rule 5 draft. These are players whose current teams weren't even willing to put on the 40 man roster. No other team is going to pay them $2 million or more. Last edited by thklein; 04-08-2020 at 07:05 PM. |

The dollar amounts are irrelevant and should not be present for the Rule 5 draft. I noticed this as well, and I’m not sure it wasn’t done by design. Paging Matt...

Those dollar values shouldn't be there. They are irrelevant for the rule 5 draft
