Someone can correct me, but I don't think they have ever used a tiebreaker system in MLB. You could sweep the season series, but if your OVR record is identical, you play a one game playoff.

Yelich can still win the triple crown. Problem is, the guys ahead of him in HR & RBI play tomorrow too.

I just looked it up and you're correct. Not sure what I was thinking.

There was a tie breaker before I am sure of it. It happened in 2005. Yankees and Red Sox was determined by record against because both teams were going to the playoffs regardless.

Yep. That may have been what I remembered. I guess for that one, both teams were headed into more or less equal series (both teams ended up as the "away" team in their series), so it wasn't that big a deal. Whereas now its the difference between a series and a one-and-done.

Does it make me a bad person to hope for a Dodgers-Cubs deathmatch in the wild card game?

As long as the Yanks & Sox get eliminated, I'll be happy. Tired of the networks thinking everyone wants to see those 2 ad nauseam.

Whoa not cool man! Just kidding, yeah I can see that where there is constant coverage. Being a Yankee fan I hope so are crushed.

Just like Cardinals-Cubs, the networks seem to favor these series too much where it reduces exposure for other teams/players.

I have trouble ranking these in order of yuck. Probably the Red Sox and Cubs on the "least yuck" end. The other three are tough.

I am under the impression that Mets fans have no gripe with the Red Sox, but Red Sox fans detest the Mets despite our common foe. I have read that the 1986 World Series is the main reason for that because it extended the Sox' suffering into the seventh decade.

The best thing for me here is, Wednesday is a national holiday, and I can just watch the NL Wildcard bonanza from the archives with a king-sized breakfast without ruining my sleep.

Meanwhile I wonder what the heck Ryan Braun was just doing there...

I'm rooting for the brewers, since they have a number of ex-Royals, the players are likable (to me), they are a small market team, Midwestern team, and because they have had a long world series draught.

A's, Astros, Rockies, Braves are also acceptable to me, because of one or more of the above reasons

Der Schlubs are going to the Wild Card game. Which means I'm rooting for whoever the other team is. Even if it's the Doggos.

Um, I think we can label Khris Davis as a .247 hitter now.

The sad thing is, that K rate isn't all that terrible by current slugger standards. Never realized just how ahead of his time Adam Dunn was. A true visionary, than man.

Deja vu. I posted about that earlier.

Anyways, that seems impossible. I wish a mathematician would calculate the odds of someone doing that.
