You don't punish to punish. You punish to change behavior. Your commitment to ending throwing punches, threatening refs, and spitting on people is seen in how severe the punishment is. By these suspensions, the NBA has shown they aren't serious about the above. And other rosters will take note.

I was expecting a bit more too.
But according to the referee in the middle of it, Ingram was not going after him but Harden who was behind him.
Otherwise Ingram would have probably had double the suspension.

Another element to this as well is that none of the players involve have a history of fighting.
Rondo is a pain in the ass as a teammate but has never tried to harm anyone.
Paul barks at the refs non stop and its irritating but again has never tried to harm anyone even though he plays body up defense and sees how the refs will officiate and if they don't blow the whistle he will get physical.
That is the most emotional I have ever seen Ingram.

I would maybe have doubled the suspensions for all of them. Ingram coming in at the end with a running punch is not a good look at all but I think in his mind Paul shoved his finger into the eye of Rondo and started it all off.

Spitting is just gross so maybe Rondo and Ingram should have gotten 8 games and Paul 4 games.

If the official said Ingram was not going after him, then I walk back a little bit of what I said about Brandon. I still say the penalty was still not severe enough for Ingram & Rondo. Ingram looked like he was itching for a fight for some unknown reason. And I don't care what kind of history a player has, no one needs to be told not to spit on another person. That is a universal no-no in any society, in any profession. I have zero respect for a person who does that kind of crap.

How does everyone feel about the jump in scoring and pace of play/possessions?

We went from one extreme to the other. I like more balance.

Why is Jimmy Butler still on the T-Wolves?

Thibs is using every power he has to reject any and all trades.
If they trade him and don’t make the playoffs then the Wolves will fire him,
And the league and the players around it have caught on that he is an average to below average coach and he will not be hired as a head coach again.

So this is pretty much his last chance to keep a head coaching job in the NBA for as long as possible.

And this is the last gasp of the coach/GM in the NBA.
It has failed everywhere else and is a terrible concept and I don’t think any future owners will ever give GM powers to another coach.

The new 14 second rule has had a minimal impact. Possessions are up and every team has embraced math and the value of points per possession.
Three point shots and lay ups are valued more than ever along with getting to the free throw line.

I don’t expect this pace to keep up. As the season wears on fatigue and injuries will slow things down.
But I still expect this to be the best offensive year in 40+ years.

And it’s not like teams are just throwing up extra shots with no effect. It’s a small sample size but effective FG% and true shooting % is also near its highest ever.

It’s interesting to watch and we will see how it plays out. I don’t mind it. I don’t enjoy watching low skilled big men enforcers just like I did not enjoy them in hockey.
It’s nice to see every player have to have mobility, floor spacing and some passing skill or be played off the court.

I disagree that he is a merely average HC. I think he is a good, but stubborn, mule-headed coach who wears out his welcome w/front offices. And for that, no one will gravitate towards a person who refuses to take direction or constructive criticism. But I don't see why an owner wouldn't veto anyone in his organization who didn't accept this trade for a player that definitely wants out. Ironically, Tibs thick-headedness probably drove the price higher for Butler. So Minny could be thankful in that regard.

My favorite stat of the season
DeMarcus Cousins is tied for 1st on technical fouls.
Zero minutes played.

Look for the Cavilers over the next few weeks to start selling off parts of their team.
I thought they would compete for the 6-9 seed in the East and oh was I wrong.
If I was them I would trade everyone who was not Sexton and Osman and get what draft picks and young players I could.

Can't believe the Cavs fired Lue. He only had 6 games to show he was a HC.

Not much surprises me when it comes to head coaching. And that ownership group is not exactly know for their smarts, empathy or not stabling a GM/coach in the back.

If I was a free agent I would stay away and if I was a draft pick I would be crossing my fingers hoping they would not select me.

I would also expect the Thunder to make a move on Korver.
I would also not be surprised if they are under .400 heading into thanksgiving if Donovan was also fired.
It was suggested on another forum that they should trade for Love but I worked the trade machine to death and I simply cannot find that the Thunder have the pieces to offer unless the Cavs are willing to take on Adams and the Thunder willing to trade him.

Amazing but I will always remember 37 points in a quarter.
A friend/co-worker and co basketball fan texted me and said Klay just scored 37.
I texted back something to the effect of, that is a nice game but why text me that?
He texted back and said, I should have said, Klay scored 37 in a single quarter.
After I picked my jaw up off the floor I went onto Twitter ASAP

Edit, he also did not score his first basketball until 9:45 left in the quarter. So he scored 37 in less than 10 minutes of game time.
