I created my own custom names and everything was working fine until the first amateur draft (the inaugural draft worked fine). The problem with the amateur draft is that a horde of players with the first name "Joe" was unleashed on the league, despite the fact that "Joe" does not exist in my customized files anywhere (in first or last names). Does anyone know what causes this?

I had it happen last night with a custom file, but it was the inaugural draft. It is caused by missed-named data files.

However, I don't remember seeing anywhere the problem not showing up until the amatuer draft

Double check your data files. I accidentally had first_name.txt instead of first_names.txt. Fixed that error and the next test league was okay.

I think I saw somewhere that name.txt instead of names.txt also creates the same problem.

Thanks. Maybe there was a corrupt file, I don't know. I ended up increasing and improving my custom names database, overwrote my first file attempts and started a new game, and the problem has not resurfaced yet through two amateur drafts.

I generated a whole set of leagues with every player having the first name of "Albrecht" after the 1.02 patch. This was pretty funny for the Japanese and Mexican leagues. Apparently the first names file took a hit at that point during installation because when I looked the Albrecht entry had no numbers after it and that entire line just read "Albrecht." It was easy to fix once I saw what the cause was.
