Exclamation Public BETA OOTP 20 patch, build 20.3.38 available!

Important: This patch is only for OOTP 20 versions which were purchased directly from us or resellers who use our version. It is also available via the Steam client.
It is NOT compatible with the Origin or Mac OSX AppStore version!

Hi!

Since the public betas went so well, here's another one, this time for the upcoming patch version 20.3.38. So, if you like to help us, give it a try

We have tested this build for 24 hours and did not find any issues, however use this at your own risk! Please back up important league files before loading them in this beta.

This version is compatible with previous builds in online leagues

Changelist (20.3.38):
- Improved OD rosters including updated 2019 draft class (need to create new game for changes to apply)
- Added live start options to advanced start screen. Live start defaults to include updated injuries
- Added baserunning extra-base % league total modifier for increased statistical simulation accuracy in historical leagues
- Fixed some issues with roster import not setting players on the correct team
- Fixed issue with trail runners not advancing on sac fly
- Fixed "No Pro Service" option being ignored in league rules
- Fixed "Make this Work Now" with draft picks selected returning options that are not accepted
- Fixed seeding for Modified-DEL playoffs
- Fixed "ask AI for bullpen" adjusting SP opener/follower settings
- Fixed misc. 3D game issues
- Fixed animations after game stops for user input (again, maybe? hopefully?)
- Fixed some cases of needing to fill in injured players before you should have to
- Fixed contract year in new reserve-era games
- Fixed late game AI not pinch hitting for SP in some cases when trailing
- When advancing to the next season in historical games, the "Import all ballparks" funtion from the ballpark editor page is run automatically (useful if ballpark mods are installed)
- Historical Exhibition Mode games now import historical ballparks properly
- Fixed rare cases where pitchers would have an ER without a R
- Adjusted AI infield in strategies
- Fixed tiebreakers in split season leagues
- Added players on rehab assignment to IL panels
- Fixed some issues with re-entering a game in progress
- All players tied for AVG, HR, W, ERA champions get achievements not just first
- PT: Added league championship icons to the top-left area of the team screens, similar to player award icons
- PT: Added new columns to tables for pt-specific card information (need to delete the "\table" folder inside the OOTP data folder prior to starting new version for first time)
- PT: Player PP history achievements now include POW, BOM, etc...
- PT: Added click & drag support to PT Universe screen
- Several other small bug fixes

How to access the beta on Steam:
  • Quit OOTP 20 if it's running.
  • Open Steam client -> Library
  • Right click on Out of the Park Baseball 20
  • Click on "Properties" at the bottom of the menu
  • Click on the beta tab. Here, enter the following code / password: ootp20pubbeta
  • Open the beta pull-down and select "publicbeta".
  • Close the Steam client (Steam menu -> Exit)
  • Open the client again. It should then download the beta build.
Update Info for our webstore customers: To apply the update, simply download the setup file and install it over your current installation. There is no need to uninstall or unlicense your current copy! However, you should quit the game before installing it, of course. Updates always contain all the changes from previous updates. Saved games are compatible between different versions.

Download link for PC Beta:
Main server: PC Installer

Here's a PC installer that installs into a single folder, which is useful for external HDs for example. Or for creating a second test install of the game, so you can try the patch out without the risk of messing up your main install of the game if something is wrong in the patch:
PC Single Folder Installer

Please post here if you have any issues or if you run into major bugs. Thanks!

Cheers,
Markus & the entire OOTP Team

The most important bug has not been fixed yet.. Scouting History Pitching Reports - If there are "displayed relative" ratings, not "absolute values". In pitchers in "scouting history" it shows "absolute values", not "displayed relative".

- Fixed late game AI not pinch hitting for SP in some cases when trailing

I just encountered this yesterday in the 7th inning and yelled at the opposing computer manager, "You're losing, stupid! Pull him!" Checked and they had both fresh arms and plenty of pinch hitters. Now I know why!

Ugh, when advancing to the next season in historical games the import all ballparks from the ballpark editor page is run automatically.

Does this mean when using 2D Classic all the on field info box settings will have to be edited to a usable position prior to every single historical season now? I love the ballpark mods, but specifically didn't load them for 20, because I can't stand having to reset things each and every year to deal with idiotic day/night earthquake shakes. Going to a Rangers game next month. Sure can't wait for the part of the game when the sky goes from daylight to pitch black between pitches.

Sorry for the grumpiness. Just thought I had things set with 20, now it looks like my solution(not loading ballparks mods) has been pulled out from under me. Playing 2D Classic is like running an obstacle coarse. Already had to disable facegen due to the strobe light screen flash that this year introduced.

- Fixed some cases of needing to fill in injured players before you should have to

Does this, in particular, fix when, during non-DH games and the pitcher gets injured during the third out of the inning and his spot in the lineup comes up in the next half inning, where you have to insert a pitcher because that position is technically vacant?

I just went back to playing 2D Classic (just prefer it) and I'm with you. I created a thread in technical support the other day about the facegen issue. Hopefully they can figure it out.

I hope so too. My solution was to simply disable it. Not a huge deal, but I do miss it at times.

I wish I could simply play using the default info box locations, but to me it looks like a cluttered mess. Plus, the baserunners are not anywhere near the actual bases. Heck if you use stadium mods, the batter may not even be in the vicinity of home plate.

Luckily I'm just playing a modern MLB quickstart so no modded stadiums. I can never go to not having facegen, though.

I believe it should help a little.

Just a difference of perception. There were scenarios that were reported, noted, fixed, and tested. I don't like to say it will fix them all, since maybe there's some other rare case to get into where we do force a change (for example, there are some cases where we still force you to set things earlier, like if your DH gets injured).

Let's just say I'm more confident that that fix will cover the cases you'll run into then the "remaining play after it asks you to send a runner", which again got a fix, but whether it will actually work, I have virtually no clue.

When a new patch/update is applied, can any/all previous patches/updates to the game be removed from the hard drive?

Thank you!

Yes, the new version just replaces the old versions.

Is it possible to go back to the version prior to this latest release? CRASHCRASHCRASH here.

Yes, you'd have to uninstall the game and reinstall the old version.

But where are the crashes happening for you? What are you doing in-game before they happen? Are the repeatable?

We'll need to figure out what's going on to make sure we deal with whatever issues are causing them, and if you can give us some info that would help with that, it would be great!

This is why I save every single update as they come out in a separate folder I created just is case something happens. I had to do this once in OOTP18, I think. It helps a lot.
