Although major baseball card companies issued cards of the following players pictured as Phillies, none of these four players ever played for the Phillies and 3 of the 4 never even played one game in the major leagues. Three of the four can rightly be called members of the Bill Sharman Society, which is to say thay THEY WERE BRIEFLY ON A MAJOR LEAGUE ROSTER DURING THE COURSE OF A SEASON, BUT NEVER GOT INTO A MAJOR LEAGUE GAME. This is because Bill Sharman, before he went on to a Basketball Hall Of Fame career with the Boston Celtics, had been a two sports star at college: basketball and baseball. As a first baseman he advanced through the Brooklyn Ddodgers organization and he was briefly on the Dodgers roster in 1951, without getting into any regular season games, before his basketball caree blossomed.
The exception is Mike Sandlock, a catcher who had played for the Boston Braves, Brooklyn Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1940s and early '50s. Topps issued a 1954 card of him as a Phillies and it's true he had been acquired by the team from the Pirates for catching depth. However, at the end of Spring Training, Sandlock was shipped to the Phillies AAA team and never played one game for the Phils. At 38, nearly 39, he decided to retire at the end of that season, without reaching the majors for a final time.
Sandlock (1915-2016) did live to be 100 years and 6 months of age and was the oldest living major leaguer for quite a while (according to Wikipedia).
These "never were Phillies": are arranged as follows; top: pitcher, Tom Casagrande; middle left: catcher Mike Sandlock; middle right:
first baseman, Fred Hopke and bottom: infielder Luis 'Lou Ortiz

The following is from one of his family members on Facebook after I had made an inquiry to his Facebook page. I was told on another site that he was passed but was given no real evidence. below is a passage from the family's representative as a result of the inquiry.

Peter Kenders : No obit, no story, Al was done with his life in baseball and asked to keep it quiet before he passed. He did continue to sign autograph requests he received in the mail until shortly before his death however, he always got a kick out of doing that.

The photos are some customs I made and the B&W is one that I used to make one of the customs. The one that looks like a 57 topps came from a forum on this site several years back

The bigger pic with a number 1 on his jersey seems to be Ken R. Hunt, who wore number 41. That jersey with only one black lining around the shoulder was used only in 1961(Dressed to the Nines--National BB HOF site). Here is another Topps Vault pic of Hunt

RHP - Ray Culp was only 21 when he made the 1963 Phillies roster out of Spring Training. He took everyone by surprise
by compiling a 14-11 record that year, with a 2.97 earned run average. Culp, with no prevous major league experience made
the National League all-star team and he pitched a scoreless inning in that years' mid-season classic. Culp finished as the
Runner-Up in the NL Rookie Of The Year voting to Pete Rose.
Culp would win at least 14 games six times in his career with the Phillies and the Red Sox. His career best win totals were in
1969 and 1970 when he won 17 games each year, but his best year was probably 1968 when he was leading the American League
in wins and he appeared to be headed toward his first 20 win season, when an injury cut his efforts short and he finished with a
16-6 record. Culp finished his career with a 122-101 record and he turned 78 just a few days ago. (August 6).

Jack Quinn pitched his final MLB game at the age of 50 years and 6 days. Between 1909 and 1933 he compiled a 247-212 record in the majors, including a two year stint with Baltimore of the Federal League where he went 35-36. He is the oldest major leaguer of all-time in terms of continuous service in the majors and not counting comeback years after players had been retired for at least a decade, such as Satchel Paige and Minnie Minoso. Quinn holds records for Oldest player to play in a World Series, oldest player to pitch in a World series game and oldest Pitcher to Start a World Series Game. Starting game record was with the 1929 Philadelphia Athletics: Play & Pitch World series records are with the 1930 Phila. A's
The Top three are: 1.Jack Quinn 50 year, 6 days.. 2. Hoyt Wilhelm 49 years, 350 days of age in final game. Hall Of Famer Reliever & Starter. 143-122 between 1952 and 1972 Authored a no-hitter and a number of one-hitters. 3. Julio Franco: (oldest MLB position player of all-time) at 49 years, 25 days in his final game. MLB career 1982-2007, with three years lost to playing in Mexico, Japan and Korea.: Lasted long enough to play a game with the Mets on the 25th anniversary MLB debut. Franco had 2,586 Hits and a .298 career batting average in 2,527 MLB games.
Despite these challenges by Wilhelm and Franco, Quinn's record has not fallen. It is now 86 years since Quinn has played in his final MLB game. Quinn's final MLB game came on July 7,1933, one day after the first ever MLB all-star game was played. (no rest days after the all-star game back then.....those guys were tough!)

Mr Jackson also played for the Pirates the Cardinals and the Reds. He had two stints with the Mets. RIP the first two B&W are from the Lexi Files. The Pirate custom card was downloaded from a forum on this site years ago. And the other is a colorization of one of the Lexi files I did years ago
