Jaeckel's entire major league tenure consisted of 4 games in September and October 1964 with the Chicago Cubs.

I read somewhere many years ago that as the trade deadline approached in 1959 the Yankees were after Roger Maris.Maris got hurt and the Yanks agreed to take Lopez in his place, along with Ralph Terry. Of course, that winter the Yankees landed Maris anyway.

I remember they called Kansas City the Yankees farm team even after they stopped being their actual AAA team in 1953. Ralph Terry, Roger Maris, Hector Lopez, Clete Boyer.....it's quite a long list of strong contributors to the Yankees pennant winners of 1960 to 1964, that came to The Big Apple in one-sided trades with Kansas City.

Pete Burnside: Me & Pete go back together a long ways

Pete Burnside is now the new #100 on Wikipedia's 100 oldest living major league baseball players list (with a supplemental list that covers players ranked from #101 to #125).
On September 25, 1955 I went to my first major league baseball games ever with my parents at The Polo Grounds in a season-ending doubleheader.
Pete Burnside had made his major leagues debut in a relief appearance for the New York Giants on September 20 and now here he was making his first MLB start in Game One of the Twin-bill. One slight problem - he was matched against the Phillies certain future Hall Of Famer, Robin Roberts who had already won 23 games that year.
Burnside was the unlikely winner, however holding the Phillies scoreless for eight innings and holding off the Phillies ninth inning rally getting a 5-2 Complete Game victory.
That may be when I began my love affair with baseball.
It's unpredictable.
The novice pitcher beat the superstar ….and so it goes.
Talk about unpredictable things: the Phillies completed a Triple Play in Game Two and light-hitting Phillies shortstop,Ted Kazanski hit one of his extremely rare home runs.
Curt Simmons beat Jim Hearn in the nightcap and the Phils and Giants split the doubleheader.
Burnside had his 89th birthday two weeks ago on July 2.
