[Mac] Simulation/general game navigation is really slow on very fast computer

Thanks for the early release. I realize this is a beta, but just wanted to give a heads up that simulation takes forever - in one season, from the trade deadline to the beginning of playoffs on do not disturb mode - it took upwards of ten minutes to finally get to October 4th.
It just uses a ton of CPU and makes it hard to get through a season. For comparison, in OOTP 17 on the same computer, it took about 5 minutes to get from July 31st to October 4th.

Let me know what more I can provide to remedy this issue, if possible. Anyone else having this problem?

Also, Don Mattingly was apparently cloned - he is manager of the Marlins, and his clone is a free agent staff member.

I love this game, thanks for all that you guys do!

John

Same thing happening to me on a Mac as well. I wasn't sure if that waiting time was standard or not since this is my first year playing OOTP, but it definitely seemed slow.

On my MacBook as well...seems to be slow even to start doing the sim. There is like a delay before it begins.

Please do verify as well that you are comparing the same game options. Notably, in 18 generating the highlights can add some time to the sim, as well as double checking to see if you have the same options for boxscores/recaps/wpa graphs/game logs. Whether they are enabled or not can easily double the sim time or more.

I am running the beta side by side on a Windows 10 PC and a Macbook Pro. The Macbook sim takes forever, even if you are only advancing one day during a season...or even more inexplicably during the off season.

Both machines with with same settings, even turning off saving of box scores, logs, etc. There is definitely something going on. Of note, in both setups, all leagues are included from the standard start game. Frankly the game is not playable (practically speaking) on the Macbook.

My macbook pro specs: MB Pro Reina 13", Early 2015 2.7 GHZ Core i5
8 GB memory, Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536MB; Running macOS Sierra

I have a 2015 MacBook Pro and noticed its slow speed independent of this thread. My dell xps 8300 from 2011 running w10 runs much faster with same default settings.
How can I help???

I have a 2010 PC and a 2016 Macbook pro which I just purchased 2 weeks ago. The PC runs a new game with the same settings 5-10x faster than the mac... It's actually a speedup from last year on there. But it would be great to fully use this on my new mac! This is definitely a major bug.

Just one more 2016 MacBook Pro user chiming in to report the same issue. Activity Monitor regularly shows the game is using like 108% of my cpu.

When I hit 'finish today', the game sits like it's frozen for probably 90 seconds before the progress bar then appears, and it's another minute or so before that process ends.

I've experimented with turning off WPA graph and game log generation, not saving box scores for non-human leagues, etc. without success.

I realize it's a beta and don't mean this to sound like a complaint. I'm sure it'll be resolved. Thanks for everything.

This is much better with the patch! However, there seems to be a significant slowdown after a couple of seasons. This is despite having all saving (aka box scores, game logs, etc) off and deletion of players who never made the big leagues. This was a issue OOTP had a few years ago (I seem to recall a developer here saying it was a memory leak?) but did not occur in 17. Hopefully you guys can look in to this?

Thanks batsfan. I haven't progressed far enough in mine to test.

2015 MacBook Pro, running the league I imported from OOTP16, with no changes made to any settings and I can confirm that the simulation takes approximately twice as long as it did on 16.

The .30 was the second beta version, which significantly improved the original public beta release. If you have the official release that is as good as you can do right now.
