Out of curiosity, how likely is a team that didn't make the playoffs get into the Super Bowl the next year? I already know the answer, I'm just asking for opinions.

Couldn't give you numbers, But I bet it is more often than people would think. The NFC has been a revolving door. I've always maintained that the diff between 12-4 and 4-12 is about 5. A combo of 5 players and/or injuries.

20ish maybe more, I seem to remember in the mid 80s when I started to follow football to say mid 90s there were a few what we call yo-yo teams.

Out of the last 50 Super Bowls it happened 25 times. I did not look at the AFL VS NFL games. I just used SBs after the merger. But yeah, that number even surprised me. Whenever you hear someone make a prediction it never includes a team that didn't make the playoffs yet it happens 50% of the time.

10 times so far this century. 4 times in the 90s. 7 times in the 80s and 4 times in the 70s.
