Have I been sabotaging my 2-way guy with one innocent click?
When you view a 2-way player's profile, there is a button on the top right to let you flip between his pitching position and his offensive position. I thought that button only affected the scouting and stats screen that was showing, but it actually changes his primary position too.
I've been wondering about this guy, he seemed to be alternating between being a really good reliever but ho-hum batter, and vice-versa. I can't believe it is the case since the button doesn't affect the underlying ratings as far as I can see. But somebody please tell me I am safe to click that button... (No point in telling me SSS since I know that, it is only 2 seasons, it's just that my habit is to check him once a week - he's my favorite - and his game logs show a rather obvious sine wave between good-bad and bad-good...) |

It doesn't actually affect their performance, although I would certainly recommend keeping his position at what you think his best future is, as there may be some spots that make him better suited one way or another (or, for example, if you have minor league AI setting up the team, they may set up the roster differently if he's a RP/RF vs a RF/RP in ever so slight ways).

Thanks Matt. It seems a bit odd though, clicking a button on an info screen can affect a player's overall performance? Either way, I'll be more careful... |

Yes. If you don't want them used as a two-way player, you need to lock them to their level (which also overrides minor league AI strategy), and then you can turn off using them as a two-way player and that setting should stick. But obviously you have to manually move them through the minors too.
