Draft Picks not signing

So I started a new game to celebrate the tactics going down. I decided to run the Thrashers from their starting year, and take part in the expansion draft. I drafted Martin St. Louis and he won't sign, and I'm near the trade deadline. Is he just being a jerk, a la Lindros, or is something wrong?

I took a look through some other teams, and Colorado has 3 players with 3 stars each they haven't signed, which seems odd.

Is this working as intended?

What's it saying when you try to sign St. Louis?

It says "do you want to match this offer", and I click match offer and it goes back to the unsigned draftees page. There is actually another player, Chris Clark, with the same issue. I got the same with two other unsigned guys I picked up, but when I matched the offer after a couple of days they signed.

That sounds like the issue with impending restricted free agents being taken in the expansion draft; I thought we'd fixed that. I'll try to do some experimenting here to see if I can replicate that with the Thrashers expansion, I'm wondering if it might be something that's specific to individual types of expansion and we missed one or more of them.

As an update: I decided to trade his rights for Afinogenov, which wasn't really a fair trade, but I thought I'd lose him the next year as there was going to be another expansion draft (if he didn't sign). Sure enough, Columbus picked him up in the expansion draft. He played for them for a year, and then on July 1st the simulation auto-signed him to me for no money. I decided to enable commissioner mode to send him back to Columbus, which I managed to do, but now under his contract it says I've renewed it, even though I don't even have him. Weird stuff.
