Best way to improve a player?
What's the best way to improve a player's defense? I have a great hitting LF/RF but he is terrible on D, and I really try and build my team around defense. Is there a way to have him really work on his D in the offseason/spring training? Or do I just have to sim and cross my fingers?

I'm curious about building around defense. It's rare in baseball to be able to do that since players often come with flaws. Generally you prioritize defense up the middle and less so at the corners.

he is at 46/100 at LF and RF but his ZR is -10 in LF. i cringe at that. great hitter though and I'll keep him and live with his D...just wish he could improve his D. he is 24 and only in his 2nd full season...maybe he'll slowly get better in the OF

If you have a good backup LF make sure he is in the depth charts as a defensive replacement.

What's his range, error and arm?

So he'll likely always be a below average outfielder, but he might improve a bit on what he is now
ETA: i don't recall seeing a player's base fielding attributes change, but i could be wrong. Has anyone else seen them change?

What are his infield ratings? You can convert practically everyone to 1B, if he has a good arm maybe 3B, if throwing righty.
Is your CF good, great or only average? If average, you may have a extra-base broadway between left and center. If great, he'll cover a part of the LF's weakness. Obvioulsly, if AL, let him DH. Can you give us his batting stats? If those are good enough, hiding somebody in LF isn't too uncommon. |

Try getting him to be a 1B.

park him next to a rangy centerfielder and don't worry about it.

Ya, I have one of the best defensive CF's in the game out there with him.
To the person asking about his offensive numbers: 563 AB .286/.353/.528, 30 HR 103 RBI 38 doubles |

Looks good, keep him there. But still consider a move to 1B if it is open, then again you might want another slugger there and LF is the next place to put a good bat, weak glove.
