Help with rosters resetting and the amateur draft
OOTP 16 most recent version on a Macbook Pro
My minor league roster has been completely cleared. I have 0 players on my roster. When I check players in the editor, the players still belong to me and are on the correct teams. I know there's a button to have the AI reassign players but this has happened at least 4-5 times. The last time this happened was one in-game day after redoing my rosters. I don''t have any real draft problems, I was just wondering what settings you guys use because my drafts seem to be really shallow. Usually there's only 1-3 legit prospects and by the 2nd or 3rd round i'm choosing from minor league filler. My settings right now are 40 rounds, create players for 43, i have 4 HS leagues and 1 college league. My scout is a near maxed out Jeff Luhnow. |

The first thing sounds like a bug, but in your league, not the game, AFAIK. I don't know how that would happen otherwise.
The second thing . . . well, I have to assume that you are playing with current MLB and, what, eight layers of minor leagues? Because, the rule of thumb is "# of rounds in amateur draft = 5 * the # of levels of minor leagues in your game" so you would need 8 minor leagues to justify an amateur draft of 40 rounds. In my game, I have only four levels: AAA - AA - A - R. So, my amateur draft is only 20 rounds. The number of feeder leagues is to determine whether you want some or all of your amateurs to come from them or allow the game to create some players as needed. Sounds like you have enough from your feeders to stock your draft. But here's the thing. Unless you do have eight minor league levels (and I just checked - I guess you could theoretically have eight levels and have an affiliate in each level for every MLB team), you may be generating too many players for your amateur draft. The game will sense that and dilute the talent accordingly, so that your league still looks like MLB and not some tournament of superstars. Could this be your issue? Attached are some notes that I have accumulated over the years.

Thanks for the help. I sent out a help ticket for the first issue but I put it on here just to see if anyone knew. I actually have 9 minor league teams (yeah i set lineups and rotations for all of em). AAA, AA, 3 A's, 4 rookie leagues, the Yankees have 10 IRL. I think there are enough players to go around....... would the solution be to increase the rounds to 45 and somehow increase the talent level of the feeders? Can I even do that? Maybe I could delete two of the high school leagues so that the game creates some players. I should probably mention that I don't necessarily see a drop off of talent that comes into the majors. There's gotta be something wrong with the draft though.
