Player Decision Issue
This has happened to me multiple times now, and I wanted to see if there was a way to fix it. Runners on 1st and 3rd, one out. Defending team is ahead by more than one run. Infield is playing at normal depth or a weak shift. Grounder hit to the infield. Instead of attempting a double play or even getting a sure out at 1st, infielder throws home, and the runner is invariably safe. This just seems like terrible AI decision-making, as the correct move is to give up the run to get at least one out or the chance of two, especially if it's in the late game (the most recent one was in the top of the 9th).
Anybody else experiencing this? Is there a way to fix it? Infielders' defensive rating is above average (55/80 this time, usually that or higher). |

I agree that the AI when it comes to what the right play is in those situations (relative to the score and inning) is not particularly great

Playing the IF at normal depth should result in the attempted DP or an out at first. Only playing the IF in should result in a throw home. And, as you say, it makes no sense with a lead of more than one run.
