Update install problem

OK I got OOTP to run on my Vista peice of *&((#! I have been playing it fine and ran into a bug and want to run an update. I am now getting a "not win32 compatible program message" when I try to run the update. Other than buying a Mac how can I overcome this problem.

Is this a Windows update or OOTP update (patch)?
