Why would someone do this?

Hi all,

Hope all is well and everyone is doing well. Just had another quick question. Why would some one bench their entire starting team at the 108 game mark, with the best record only to lose in the playoffs? They outscored everyone in the league by over 400 runs, were first in every single offensive and pitching category. Players they sat at the 108 game mark, finished far and above my players who played most of the season. Isn't the point of this game to move up? Or is their something I am missing?

All my best,
Hwilensky

Only thing I can think of is that they're purposely tanking to avoid moving up so they can collect PP at a faster rate at a lower level. It's really against the rules and the spirit of the game. But at this point it's pretty hard to police especially with only a couple weeks of sims left. Which also makes you wonder why the strategy in the first place...
