5 months worth of updates. At a guess I'd say Major/Minor/Pacific/Negro League updates for 1906, 1907, and 1908.

The Spritze db is the "college" one. I call it the high school db as players become available after high school and can go pro or to college depending on how you play the game.

Okay, that clears that up.
I was ferreting through the db and noticed many players whose initial team designation is IND. Some of these are players, such as Lip Pike, who started his career with Troy, would enter as free agents. Which, if any, DB would allow me to import players to their correct historical teams (after I altered the teams manually) and still allow Negro League players and others to import as FA's? I hope this is clear. Thank you. JP

Mr. Pike played on a number of teams pre-1901 that OOTP has deemed to not exist. Non-existent teams in OOTP are designated IND in the database of the players record. You can still import them as free agents and assign them to any team you wish. OOTP historicals pre-1901 are real players but fictional leagues and teams.

I do not know for sure. OOTP gets its data from various files. Master.csv Debut determines the when, which team is probably determined by the combination of neutered = batting2.csv and unneutered=batting.csv but I do not know for sure.

It's possible that this has already been called to attention but after performing a few different searches within this thread, I can't find an answer. I'm new to using databases but I started a "test" league and it seemed like I was able to import the database without any problems. The players were all there. I simmed a forward a few years and all players correctly appeared in the draft. Then, I noticed something strange. All of the players from the Negro and PCL's are importing with a "fragile" injury rating. Have I done something wrong?

OOTP only uses a players real Major League record to determine fragility so all non-ML'ers begin as fragile. It does not usually have a detrimental effect.

Is the DB updated with 14 rosters or do I have to switch over to the regular one when I reach a specific year?

The db will have 2014 whenever Mr. Lahman makes them available.

I've searched unsuccessfully and hope spritze or someone can answer.
I'm using the Spritze DB, but all the incoming rookies are basically major league ready at time of the draft. I am in the 1870s and right now I have reserve rosters instead of minor leagues. Am I doing something wrong or are the players "ready" because of the time period I'm in and/or because I do not have minor leagues yet? I'm doing a historical sim. |

Debut players are older in general from 1871-1875-ish. By 1880 they have attained a more standard age range. This is simply due to the 1871 cut-off. Keep in mind baseball goes back to 1843.

I'm kind of confused (it always happens with these databases lol).
On OOTP Mods it says Gambo/Spritze DB for OOTP 14 (Corrected). Is this Gambos DB with full minors and professional debut (not age 18) and correct actual stats so all records and such will be accurate when you import? For some reason I always get confused by these on there. I wish there was an info tab that could highlight the basic info of the mod so you knew off the bat if it was what you are looking for. EDIT: Oh, and you should use the "neutralize stats" option when using one of these DBs right? Last edited by majesty95; 03-29-2015 at 05:50 AM. |

One more question, what is the "right" amount of minor leagues to use with the Gambo/Spritze OOTP 14 DB? Do you use the exact same as real life? Is there an easy way to import those? Is there a general rule of thumb, say if you want to create a fictional league but import historical players?

The answers to these questions are contained in the OOTP Wiki.
