Suggestion for "townball" league functionality...

I wanted to create a "Townball" league, but we need just a tiny bit more functionality to do it without editing.

As of right now, "foreign" players can only be excluded by either excluding the team nationality, or the league nationality.

If we were able to do it by team city (and also, to put an option in feeder to only generate players from that city) -- we could do some awesome townball leagues.

I know, I should be playing -- but I just have so many ideas its hard sometimes.

You could edit the world_default to include only the cities that you want in the game. I did this with one of my leagues.

That's not what I meant, and I meant to do it without editing.

Regardless, you still can't exclude foreign players by city -- only by league and team nationality.

I would like to see this as well - it would make High School feeders more rewarding, too.

Yeah, I just read a ton about the old Minnesota "townball" leagues and think it would be awesome to make a local cities league from my area. Have a feeder "league" of two teams or whatever for each team and have each one generate players for each ML city.

Then, you can turn the "foreigners" rule on to only allow three players, much like how Minnesota townball used to run that all of your players had to be from your town, but up to three players could be "mercenaries" from any city.

Would be a ton of fun and very strategic. I'm sure there are far more important things for Markus and the team to work on, but this would be one I'd use for sure.

This is what I'm trying to do currently for my hometown area. I hit a snag in some testing, though, as lots of highly rated prospects are being released shortly after the draft, then being signed and released repeatedly in the following days. I hadn't gotten to the part of editing the cities file or figuring out how to deal with that aspect.

When I came upon your thread I was immediately reminded of the scene from the movie Field of Dreams. The part where Ray and Terence Mann stop to pick up the hitchhiker named Archibald "Moonlight" Graham. Moonlight was hoping to find a townball team.

I hope you create a thread for us to follow your townball league. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun.
