Quick update on weird P427
As anticipated, in this weird 18-team league, the Wild Card round was skipped entirely and the 4 division winners hosted the 4 wild card teams in the Division Series. Interestingly, all 4 Division Series contests were sweeps, with *humblebrag* Huntley taking down the 6-time Perfect League champs Winter Springs Gold Miners 5-1, 1-0, and 4-2! Huntley now gets the "privilege" of facing the 3-time Perfect League champs Brooklyn Cyclones in the NC Sub-League Series, which will most likely be a 4-game slaughter, as Huntley went a quite unimpressive 5-19 vs Brooklyn during the regular season...
Meanwhile, in the AC, both wild card teams swept the division winners! Hickory had a better record than Dab City (94 wins vs 83 wins), so that series win was not completely unexpected, but impressively, 89-win Mesquite swept away the top team in the conference, 106-win Miami! And that after going 5-13 vs Miami during the regular season! Huh...maybe there is some hope for Huntley, after all? Onward...

Theme team finally finds success!
The third trip to the playoffs is the charm for the theme-team Suburban Sox, who finally won a division and then swept the Division Series in Iron! This team is all White Sox except for 2 "legacy" players from the original 6 packs, Lymon Bostock (who's been spectacular!) and Ben Zobrist, who are still around because the White Sox don't have a whole lot of outfielders, or at least, outfielders that are affordable for a FTP theme team, thanks to the awesome White Sox collection missions. But, in any case, onward to the I260 Sub-League Series!

The New York Patriots will spend 2036 in Silver for the 9th consecutive season after getting swept in the divisional round for the 3rd time in as many trips to this spot in the playoffs. The Patriots are now 2-11 lifetime in silver playoff rounds, and are once again left wondering if RNGjesus will ever bless them.
"It hurts to even try and figure this out, because we don't have the answers. Our playoff appearances have been a colossal waste of everyone's time, and I'm honestly powerless to fix it. You need luck to have a chance in the playoffs, and luck is something we just can't afford" Magus said after their game 3 loss, which is their 9th straight divisional round defeat, and the 4th time in their history that they've been swept in the divisional round. Speaking out of character, I genuinely do not know what else I could possibly do to get this team out of silver. Maybe it's time to accept that that's where we belong and we'll never escape. A season after being relegated to Gold the YakAnglers are on their way back to Diamond after a 3 game sweep of the Kannapolis Intimidators. YakAnglers pitching was dominant, allowing only 4 runs in the series. 92 Chris Short allowed 2 hits and went 8.1 innings to seal the series.
And as I typed this the Miners defeat the very powerful Cleveland Crushers 3 games to 1. The Miners will be moving on to PERFECT. I'm not sure how I feel about this. Pretty cool getting a team to Perfect League, especially a "theme team" that consists of almost all Cardinals players --maybe two or three are not -- but it's more than likely going to be a terrible season and a quick relegation.

Awesome, Angels win the first two game on the road...and lost the next two games at home 16-0 and 10-0 lol My team supposed to play better at home (.704 versus .487 on the road).

The Frogs took the wild card game from Bensonhurst 7-5. My foe went with 97 Koufax instead of 100 Hubbell, which in hindsight seems like a mistake in that Koufax lasted two-thirds of an inning and gave up 5 runs. Probably wasn't paying attention or had the rotation set to "strict."
Frog bullpen was a little bit more rickety than I'd like in giving up some late runs to make it look close. Sabathia did his thing with a 7 IP 1 ER performance. The Frogs are currently down 2-1 (1-3, 4-1, 5-12) in the DS against the 123-win Maine Gems. It's gonna take a miracle to beat perfect Hubbell and perfect Walter in games 4 and 5 to advance. Not sure the Frogs have it in them this week. It looks like the NC's 2 whale teams (Kogarah Kings have already advanced after snuffing out the Kennett Square Mushroom Caps in 3 games) will meet in the subleague series. The winner of that figures to be a massive favorite in the perfect league series because the AC in P408 was totally devoid of whales this week. EDIT: No suspense here--the Maine Gems took G4 5-3 to advance. The Frogs will try again for glory next week.

Doha and Great Lakes went quickly out of the DS, whit Doha as the biggest offender getting swept by the wild card winner. Perugia is going to play a decisive game 5 against the Amber Legends,

The Colonels move on to the sub-league championship after sweeping the San Antonio Riptides 8-0, 4-0, 11-0. We face the Exeter Blue Hawks and their five PL championship medallions. We were 2-5 vs. Exeter in the regular season. It looks tough, but I have a hot team right now.

Saints against Chico in the NLCS in Perfect 421.
We fought tooth and nail all year so it's fitting.

It's been an interesting year for the Raccoons. We had our lowest win total since gold (11 years ago) with only 104 wins, but I feel that our chances this year of winning it all are actually better (which means nothing of course!). We easily won our division and then swept the Marshall Cardinals in the division round. We'll be facing the Collingwood Magpies (we went 3-3 in regular season) in the conference championship.
One reason I feel better about our chances is that our 3 top fielders are also 3 of our top hitters this season. Boudreau, Maddox and Rizzuto have all hit well and have been hot of late. Rizzuto is now trained up to 100 at 3B and has replaced Zimmerman (47 DEF) who's normally a much better hitter. Another reason for some optimism is Keefe. Last season, another team in the league had Tim Keefe win the pitching triple crown and I was wishing my Keefe would do so well. For the 1st time ever, I had a pitcher win the pitching triple crown and yes, it was Keefe!

Playoffs are over for this poor Furball here. Accountants lost in five in the LDS. Back to the drawing board again…..

No promotion party for the Brooklyn Dynasty, who lose their third straight divisional round game 5. Starting to wonder if there's anything else I can do to finally get over the hump, short of spending more money I don't have on points.
Yet another wasted playoff Sunday. NOW it's time to raid the wine closet. |

Game 1 of the Gold .341 Series does not go the YakAnglers way. At all.
Behind Perfect Honus, Yelich, Arenado, and 99 DeGrom the Glendale Liberty trash the YakAnglers 15-0. 19 game winner Chris Carpenter doesn't get through 2 innings.

We lost the 1st game to the Magpies, 9-8 in 10 innings. Keefe got blasted. In the 2nd game, we defeated 100 Johnson 4-3, but almost gave up that lead due to relief "help" by 99 Johnson who's not had a good year.
Next up will be our Sutton vs Young, then Hubbell vs Walsh. It's certainly not going to be easy, but I'm still feeling optimistic about our chances.

Ouch! Tough start, but who knows, maybe your YakAnglers will play like the '60 Pirates who got blasted 3 times by the Yankees, but won the WS in 7 games. Good luck!

The 93 win wildcard Lotte Marines upset the 122 win Ahabs in 5 games. Doubledays needed home field to beat the tough Phenoms. Shockers already have 6 perfect titles. Not sure anything can stop this massive whale team from number 7?

Third week since I created my team, first week that I have tried to improve it and make it better and we managed to make it into the playoffs as a wild card team after losing a 1 game tiebreaker for the division title.
I won the wildcard game and then swept the team with the best overall record in the league in the division series. I am now tied 1-1 with my inter division rival who won the division title by beating me in that one game tiebreaker. Drama! |

I am looking to improve the Accountants, but I'd be damned if I could find a decently defensively adept second baseman that bats left-handed to platoon with Albies.
