Can't play anymore...salary cap
I'm 6M over the cap day before the season and trying to make a trade. But nobody wants my guy because everyone's payroll is too high. Looks like I have to start over. Half the teams in the league are over the cap the day before the season starts. I don't get it.

Remember, you have a 10% cap cushion in the off-season, so don't sign any big contracts that put you well over the cap in the pre-season.

That's alot of salary to dump day before season, should try to manage your salary back in July. Sounds like you need to release some players for no return.
Take the Blackhawks as an example this past summer, they new they wernt gonna make it and started early to get there salary cap under control. Last edited by AaronV; 12-03-2015 at 10:03 AM. |

yeah, he's not just talking about one team. half the league is over... but is that part of the ai plan ... it could know it has to cut the player, but just doesn't do it until required to in hopes of trade or whatever else.
you'd have to see how it is actually affecting the league. are there good free agents each year sitting on the sidelines and in great number? is there too much parity? too little? whatever else you can think of, but questions dealing with a larger scope of the league. |

I know I waited too long to release or trade players and I do not mind starting over. But my question is, are teams on the game paying players as if the cap is supposed to be going up, only it isn't actually going up the way it is supposed to? A bunch of teams are well over $80M the night before the season starts. Something seems off.

I can't. It says the season started and I am not allowed to release players...unless I can do that in commissioner mode. I'm also questioning if the cap is supposed to go up or not. No way to tell whether I sim or not.

I'm now at the end of season 2 on a restarted game file. Once I move forward again I'll be more specific in my observations.
