Noob questions
I want to set up a fictional league in the deadball era and some things I don't understand. Probably easiest to take them one at a time.
Facegen. Everybody was caucasian with a few American Indians. How can I reflect this in my league? And how can I be sure everybody is clean shaven? |

Use Questdogs name set for OOTP15 and the names and ethnicities will be set... He also has a beard frequency file included... It the first thing I add to my game after installation and it works like a charm... Look here for more info...

So those files affect how the facegen pictures look?
I saw the names are 1870 and 1970. Nothing in between? |

Download the files and read QD readme file, it will explain how it works and how to install them... Any questions, look through his thread or post a question to QD and he will answer it for you...

Ok. That helps getting the era right for facegen.
Are there 3D ballparks for deadball? |

And if I set up separate minor leagues, can the major league teams trade with them and buy players from them?

Not too much out there right now on the 3D parks... I think you might find a couple here:
http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...rk-models.html Yes you can have minor leagues... Set them up as affiliated or historically correct Non-affiliated as most were back then... You can trade with those minor league teams... |

That gives me enough information to get started. Thanks for your help. I'll write again if I have any more questions.

Ratings > Stats?
What is more valuable to look at, player's past performances or their rating?

If you have scouting off or 100% then ratings. If you have scouting on it depends on your accuracy and the quality of your scout.

I disagree; ratings are nice, but past performance is a much better predictor of future performance. Some guys will never play up to their ratings, even if they're 100% accurate.
Ratings do give you kind of a baseline -- "what could I expect from this player, all else being equal?" -- but I'd trust the past performance first. The one exception is guys who haven't played in the majors; ratings are your best bet there, because minor league stats can vary wildly. |
