Recently read an article on Johnny Tocco, and in the article it mentions that for a time he worked as a cornerman for Willie Pep, but since I believe he also had Bill Gore for his entire career Tocco could be used as his cut man.

As chance would have it, I just ran across a softball in the garage with Willie's autograph on it today. I got it at a charity fast pitch game that I umpired back in 86 or 87. Pep, Marlon Starling and Eddie Fainer (The King from 'The King and his Court') signed the ball for me.

I still can't locate the picture that I have from that day with Moochie and Pep on either side of me, dukes up. I have to find taht photo!

When I was 10 or 11, my Dad took me to some boxing matches at a local HS. In between fights we were walking around and then my Dad went absolutely nuts, then composed himself as we walked up to none other than Willie Pep who was handing out ring pics that he was signing on the spot. I remember a ready smile and boy he sure loved to talk. Me and my Dad stayed there for a while as he bantered back and forth with everyone. This was probably like 1971 or 72
