Cube's New Eternity Boxing Council

I'm finally ready to restart the EBC. The league will be run according to the old rules, plus the following system I've developed to run limited rosters and career stages.
Everyone let me know what you think, (especially Andreas) and I'll have starting rosters and a schedule within a week.

Cube:
How will you handle scheduling the fights and how many fights per fighter each year?

Here are the original EBC rules

Fighters have a
base 25% chance of fighting on a given month. This is adjusted upward
10% for each month of inactivity.

Then I use a format where the
highest rated fighter who's fighting in a division, fights the lowest
rated fighter in the division. Second highest fights the second
lowest, and so on. Modified by this rule. 60% of the time a fighter fights the nearest ranked fighter also fighting that month, that also rolled within the 60% ranking scheme. Champions fight top 10 fighters 75% of the
time, or top 5 fighters 25% of the time. Champions must defend every
6 months or be stripped. Fighters also can be injured as follows.
Each 1 or 2 knockdowns is a month resting automatically. A KO is a
month resting. A TKO is 2 months. Each 1 or 2 cuts is a month. Also
if a fighters Performance points drops below 0, he is moved to an
entirely different class I call Clubfighters. When on the clubfighter
circuit a fighter fights only other clubfighters until his
Performance points raises above 0.

Really like the career aging rules, with the old eyeball test it looks like they'll work really well. Does this mean that your "resetting" the universe so to speak??

Yes. Just too many cool features in the new game to ignore.

I really like how you have set things up. Just wondering, since you have to do record keeping outside the scope of the present game, how many fighters are active in each division at one time?

Very nice site, I'll be following along as you go. I shamelessly admit I have stolen a lot of your ideas for my universe as your rules seem to be the best I've seen so far.

By the way, will there be any more photo packs in the near future or will the universe take priority over everything else?

Enjoy your universe as you deserve it after all you've given the rest of us.

Thanks for your kind words. It took me something like 2000 fights on the TB boardgame to come up with this design. The rules for fighters sitting out months came from Gerry Brown's old Titlebout site. I just developed the career points rules about 2 weeks ago. The photo archive will certainly continue to be updated every 4-6 weeks. I was updating it more often but the submissions have dwindled to a trickle. Update 4 coming soon!

I have to agree with Roy. After all the contributions you've made to the TBCB community, it's time for you to have a little fun.

I like the career points rule .... let me ask your advice cube ... I started a universe using your scheduling system in 1900 ... I added all the fighters 1900 and prior ... I'm in June right now ... would you change all the fighters to beginner? and how would handle the different ages of the pre 1900 fighters? Just looking for input

I suppose you could plug the "21 fights and above is prime" rule for the actual records of pre 1900 fighters, up to 1900. All the fighters that don't have 21 fights will still be pre prime or beginning depending on how many fights they had.

January 2000 is over! See February's rankings and the new schedule. Some notable fights include Julio Cesar Chavez v. Bobby Chacon at Junior Lightweight. Jerry Quarry v. Elmer Ray, Archie Moore v. Harold Carter and Michael Carbajal v. Humberto "Chiquita" Gonzalez. Stay tuned for all the results.

Cube,

I haven't gotten to the point where I am starting fighters at beginning stage, but when I do does the computer automatically adjust the fighters ratings during the fight? Or do I need to adjust their ratings. If I do what forula do you use to adjust yours?

Thanks for all your help.

Did a search and I think I got my answer but let's see if I have this right.

Although their ratings do not change they do perform differently in the ring right?

Yes, the computer adjusts a fighters ratings when he fights at a career stage besides prime.

Including hw Billy Miske (4) vs Tony Galento (6), a rematch of January's fight between Alberto Sandoval (2) vs Ernesto Miranda (3), and Joe Baksi (1) vs Paolino Uzcudan (10). Also the EBC will be returning to the 4 fights per fight card format in March. Check it out today! http://www.angelfire.com/games4/cubedrum0/
