Keith Jackson dead @ 89
He was probably my favorite play-by-play announcer in any sport. He was one of the few in the broadcast booth that to me actually enhanced the game. He was THE voice of college football to me.

Exceptional announcer and an incredibly nice man. When I got out of college, I used to work for ABC on their college football coverage, coordinating and controlling the scoreboard and stat crawls on the bottom of the screen. But I'd also communicate with the on-site crew and announcers (I worked at the New York studio). Had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Jackson a few times and hearing him deal with others on our staff, and he was the genuine article. He'll certainly be missed.

I have great memories of Keith Jackson calling the Rose Bowl on New Years' Day every year. He was definitely the voice of college football.
