These two photos come from this Racine Journal Times article about O'Brien's weight loss. A second article from RacineSportsZones.com talks about O'Brien's major league experience.

The photo is from the Detroit Free Press of May 1, 1995. Sparky Anderson is easily recognized as the Tigers' manager arguing with Higgins.

Henry Schwarz 1995 Missing Umpire
Photo from the Columbus (IN) Register of May 2, 1995. Showed the four replacement umpires from the previous day's game in Baltimore. Unfortunately, in the case of Mike Huber, it showed him from behind.

Dennis Duncan 1995
A photo of Dennis Duncan had been previously posted on this thread on the following webpage: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...mpires-15.html
That photo showed him as an older man in a business suit. This photo shows him as an umpire, and comes from the same May 2, 1995 issue of the Columbus (IN) Register as cited above. |

Mike Huber 1995 Missing Umpire
Found another newspaper with the shot of the four replacement umpires. This one gives a little more detail of Mike Huber's face (though not much). This is from the Easton (MD) Star-Democrat of May 2, 1995.

Darold Satchell 1970
This photo of Darold Satchell comes from the Louisville Courier-Journal of April 22, 1970. In this scene, he is an International League umpire caught in a dispute with Rochester coach Chico Fernandez. Soon thereafter, Fernandez' manager, Cal Ripken Sr. would step in and take over the argument with Satchell.
A photo of Satchell was previously posted on this thread by tnfoto, but it showed him as a player in a minor league uniform. That photo was on the following webpage: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...mpires-23.html I'm grateful for that photo, because it turns out that Satchell was a non-roster invitee with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1957, and I was seeking a photo of him as a player. The St. Louis Dispatch of February 25, 1957 mentions that Darold was one of the promising young Cardinal pitchers who had been in a competitive game with Phillie rookies a couple of days earlier. |

W.C. Dole 1875 MISSING UMPIRE
SABR determined that the umpire who officiated six games in New Haven in 1875 was not New Haven Elm Citys player Lester Dole, but his brother, W.C. Dole. I have removed the image of Lester from the Facepack and replaced it with W.C., shown here in the 14-Sep-1909 Boston Journal.

Bill Hafner 1979 Missing Umpire
I found a book called Memoirs of a Left Hander by Vern Shultz on Google Books, which mentions that umpire Bill Hafner attended Washington High School in St. Paul, MN. Here is his senior picture from the 1948 school yearbook, and two shots of him on the baseball and basketball team from the 1947 yearbook.

William Buck 1871 Missing Umpire
The William Buck Wikipedia article is currently up for deletion, and work by user Smmurphy has led to a substantial expansion of his page. This user discovered that Buck played baseball at Princeton and for the Baltimore Pastime Club. This image comes from Athletics at Princeton: A History. Frank Presbrey Company, 1901.
