Can a players spot in the lineup
affect their hitting performance?
i.e., can a player have better stats hitting in x spot as opposed to y spot? |

Sort of, the better stats will be based on better opportinuties depending on the players around him. The game does not give any bonuses to different spots in the line up as far as I know.

Position for position alone, I don't think so. However, I would venture to guess that the developer has programmed into the game some sort of consideration for hitting behind a guy or guys with high OBP (more runs batted in opportunities) or in front of a guy or guys with high batting averages and power (better pitches to hit so as to not be walked and put on base).
