Carrying 13 pitchers vs. player expectations
There are only 5 rotation slots and 7 bullpen slots. This means if you carry 13 pitchers and they all expect to be in the rotation or in the bullpen, one of them is going to be angry, even if they get into games. Is that really intended? I believe Texas and a couple other teams are actually carrying 13 pitchers this season for a deeper bullpen.
Also I noticed there's no slot for "situational lefty." It seems the AI does a decent job, but it would be nice to designate a pitcher (or two) for getting lefties out. |

I agree. There should be situational assignments, especially for late innings (in close games) defensive specialists and mop-up guys in blow-outs where you don't want to waste your other relievers.

We have to make sacrifices with the small screen space we have available. We will always look into expanding stuff like this but it has to make sense. So make suggestions how we can change it and I will take a look.

IMO remove the Next (starter) menu from Rotation/Bullpen screen. Move the Mode selector to Options->Pitching.
Those two changes would make enough room for one or the other of the following: Situation Lefty (one slot) Emergency Starter/Blowout Absorber*(one slot) Moving the Rotation Size to Options would allow for both of the above. You could also have an overloaded slot labeled 5th/Emergency Starter. Whether that pitcher is used in the rotation depends on the rotation size. *I can't remember what the term is for a pitcher who only pitches in blowouts. Yeah, the word is mop-up. We will take a look and I add "more bullpen options" to the list of possible new features on my list. But that is nothing for one of the first updates as it would take some time to implement.

Thanks. BTW I'm less concerned about having the slots than I am about the 13th pitcher getting angry because he doesn't have a bullpen role. If just being a pitcher on the active roster and being used in games was enough to keep them happy, it wouldn't be a big deal.
And yes, mop-up was the term I was looking for. I totally blanked-out on that one. |
