Question Catcher's impact on pitching?

Do catchers affect the quality of pitching? I recently had a gem going and it was a total blow-out, so I brought in a bunch of kids, one of them being Montero to catch (really low defensive ratings at everything).

Instantly the bases were walked full, gave up some hits, got out of that inning. Next inning bases were walked full again, brought in another pitcher, he gives up grandslam (over the fence) to a guy with 6 out of 20 in power, walks some more guys, gives up a couple more hits. I ended up winning 11-10 and used my closer (grrr).

It could be a huge coincidence, but I'm starting to think back to some other games where my good pitchers were unexpectedly abused, and Montero was catching a few of those too.

I don't think so, my pitchers did their best in the first season while montero was still undeveloped, but it could have been the pitchers who got worse over the years.
