Create a player?

Hey, quick question!

First, can we create a fictionnal player and how?

Second, if I want to sim a league with fictionnal players in the NHL, can I be unemployed so the league sims itself and I can still keep track of the players?

Thanks!

Yes you can create a fictional player. It's simply an option in the league edit screen. You can select his name, nationality, position and quality (or, of course, you can go into the editor after and tweak whatever you want specifically).

And yes, you can remain unemployed and just sim a sort of "watcher" game if you want. You aren't forced to take on a team.

And if you sim for like 5 season just watching to see who everything plays out - do the trades by the computer vs computer make any sense or is it just a script at the background that checks, 18 days has past let's make a trade to create some action..

Will I be able to take control of all the teams, ie OOTP?

In Commish mode you can basically take over any team you want.

The Trade AI was improved greatly and we will always continue to improve it in the future. Is it perfect? No. But luckily trades in reality often make no sense as well.

*cough*DougieHamilton*cough*

I shouldn't talk though, my Hawks traded my boy Saad too.

At least they got a good return for him though.

At some point, based on an article about Saad signing a bridge contract in Chicago, we added the concept of bride contracts to the game and then he got traded.

Oh yeah - I nearly cried in joy when GMJR somehow made up the Lovejoy/Despres disaster by fleecing the Canucks über-badly in the Sutter trade

Ha, guess it just wasn't meant to be... awesome you added bridge deals though as that's a huge part of the NHL right now. Though, in light of the Tarasenko deal it may be less of one.

I'll always remember that day because I knew Sharp was a goner and I was going to need a new jersey. I ALMOST bought a Saad one thinking there was no way he wouldn't be re-signed and then he gets traded. Dodged a bullet on that one. Now I'm going to get a Keith jersey.

So there are bridge contracts in the game? Interesting...

Yeah, without them it is very hard to mimic the modern NHL.

God, Jim Benning is a testament to wonky trade AI being fine. That guy has killed off so many people's passion for the team with a litany of boneheaded moves. If I had known the Ryan Miller signing would be just the tip of the iceberg...

Well, it's that kind of stuff that makes me want to escape to the realm of pretend control and take over the Nux. Thank you FHM crew for letting me find some sort of escapist fiction.

Will be able to clone players in the near future or will this be a possibility with the next version.

A little off topic - sorry - but I'm curious if you would sign Lucic after this season, seeing as he's made it clear he'd love to play for Vancouver?

You can play out games using the new engine and use the new tactics system.

Basically I would just recommend using the FHM 2014 patch to get used to things for when FHM 2 arrives. It's still going to be an adjustment to FHM 2 because things are a lot different and improved, but at least you'll have the hang of things a little bit.

Best line ever i read about Sutter sums up what you´ll get from next season on:
1st line name, who gets paid 2nd line money, actually plays on the 3rd (in PIT), and performs like a 4th liner (check his Corsi and Fenwick)

So escapism might be the only thing keeping your sanity next season
