Settings at the start of a new game
I have read a few threads about setting for trading, player development, player creation, and many other things. When I look around the game they seem to be in all different places.
What settings does everyone choose at the start of the game? and where are they found? Thanks |

If you are a new player, I strongly recommend not changing any settings. Play with the default settings and you will get the intended experience. After you become more familiar with the game and what you like and do not like, then you will know what you'd like to change.

I second the advice from Questdog. The best way to learn the game is to play the MLB quickstart with your favorite team and all default settings. As you think of something that you want to change or experiment with, look for that setting or topic in the manual and research it on the forum. In a few weeks, you will be building your own custom league from scratch.
Be careful tinkering with financials or stats settings as it is easy to throw your league out of whack if you don't understand the impact of your change. |

I agree with Questdog and Orcin, but one part of the game that's on by default I would turn off is, league evolution. You can always turn it back on once you're more comfortable with all the other aspects of the game.

With league evolution left on - what does that do for you? And why do you recommend turning it off? Does that involve expansion?

There are quite a few settings but yes it controls expansion, team city/name changes and other changes that the AI can do for itself. Usually I turn off the checkboxes for expansion, team move and nickname change and leave the rest of them turned on, but it's a personal choice.

I think newbies should turn it off because it can initiate new rules that are inconsistent with real MLB rules, thus creating confusion for someone trying to learn the game. The new player may not realize why the rule changed, or even that it did change if they miss the email. |

I agree that turning off league evolution is a sound plan.
