RIP - William “Bill” Miller
William “Bill” Miller, former trainer during the golden era of The Kronk Gym, passed away July 14, 2012 in the Detroit suburb of Southfield, MI after a lengthy illness. Miller turned pro at 17, racking up 26 wins in his 30 bouts before moving on to instructing others in the game’s finer points. He trained world champs, Davey Moore, Joe Manley, Lindell Holmes, Bronco McKart and was instrumental in developing a young James “Lights Out” Toney into the top notch pro he became. He also assisted Emanuel Steward in the corner of Hall of Famer Thomas Hearns. In addition to training champion level fighters, Miller spent countless hours teaching others about the sport. Up until his most recent illness, he could still be found at an occasional fight card, offering his pearls of wisdom to even the most novice of fighters. (Fightnews)
