August 24th 1880 Update

Philadelphia Athletics have stumbled to farther back in the lineup. Worcester has held their own in first despite a surging Cleveland and Keokuk.
Over in the National League, Troy is slipping farther back, going 2-8 in their past 10 games. Cincinnati has the best record in the second half at 15-10.

We are nearing the end of the season. The National League has been decided, Cincinnati have clinched over Troy.
Worcester is holding on to a slim 4 game lead with at the most 8 games left in the season.

May 8th 1881 Update

Cleveland jumps out to a 7-0 start. Jim McCormick is leading the Blue (3-0, 0.33 era). Over in the National League, Buffalo is undefeated too at 6-0.
The Bison are led by John Clapp ( .346 BA and 4 RBIs) along with Old Ross Radbourn (2-0, 1.00 era)

Buffalo is the first to win 20 games. Worcester drop down to 5th place after loosing 7 straight. Our pitcher, Al Pratt is 1-8 so far this season.

August 4th 1881 Update

Worcester's season is over. A 4-15 May and a 4-13 June and no defense. We lead the league in batting average and all the other states but has not equated in more wins.
Defense is the problem, we are dead last in defense efficiency. Cleveland leads by a few games over Detroit. Over in the National League, Buffalo is leading a surging New
York team that has won 6 straight. The second half of the season is just beginning.

Boston Red Caps come out of nowhere and park themselves in the top spot of the American League. Boston reeled off 17 straight wins.
Meanwhile Buffalo still has a slim lead over Philadelphia and New York.

The American League will expand by two teams: Baltimore Orioles and Louisville Eclipse
In the National League, the World Series Champs Boston Red Caps, will move to be a part.
Philadelphia Centennials will move to Pittsburgh and will be called the Alleghenys.
