I think if you finish off the OOTP4 season in OOTP4 and then re-import it, it will work. If you do this let me know, cause i'd love to know if it works for other people besides just me

exe error tested okay now

mhochman:

I did as suggested and the league works fine. Thanks!

Only problem is I wanted to use the league and roster changes I made in ootp4. I was doing well with a Yankee team that was without Jeter, Mussina, Giambi and some others. They did not want to sign and said they did not like my organization. Looks like George Steinbrenner even has an influence on players in ootp5.

Okay Win2K users, I might have a solution. Make sure that Service Pack 3 is loaded on your machine.

I did that tonight, and ran fine with D3D enabled and Sound enabled.

So far so good....knock on wood.....and hopefully....play ball!

Try upgrading your internet exploder to the latest version, also set the graphics mode to 'non-direct3d' using the game configuration program in your OOTP5 folder.

You should be able to finish out that league's season in ootp4 and then re-import it.

And hey, supposedly The Boss has influence EVERYWHERE, why should OOTP be any different? hehe, I take it yer a Yanks fan.

I downloaded DirectX 9.0 and toggled both the sound and the Direct 3D to Off, and my game still crashes.

I'm using a new OOTP5 Roster set that I downloaded from baseballsimcentral.com, so the problem is not a converted OOTP4 file.

I have absolutely no idea what the problem is. Does anyone else have anything else that I could possibly try to get this game to work? I've tried it on both my home computer (brand new, Windows XP) and my school computer (two years old, Windows 2000), and they both have encountered the exact same problem.

I need help!

I'm in exactly the same boat as DiMaggio5CF . I have tried running OOTP5 on two computers (one on Win 2000 and one on Win XP. I have Directx9, Direct 3D and sound are disabled, I have no other programs running and I have ALL of the most recent updates to my software. Crashes within minutes everytime.

I just got Service Pack 3 off the internet, but it told me that I should back up my system before installing it. If I install it, will it wipe out my entire computer, or will I keep everything I already have and just update the stuff that needs to be updated?

It just updates the stuff that needs updating, and it also should give you the option of backing up all the changed files.

Just a note for you all running win 2000, I am running it as well, service pack 2, have the 3d and sound toggled off and had the same memory crashes with ootp5.exe. I would receive it when creating a historical league. I had the files in c:\stats1 and I would get crashes when importing the ID's. I moved the new version 5 lahman to c:\stats and it works fine now. Tested about 3 or 4 times creating new leagues. not sure why it works but it does now. Just in case anyone else is having the same problem.

Okay, I just simmed through an entire season without one single hiccup.

Windows 2000k SP3
OOTP5 with Graphics and Sound turned on.
Sound Blaster Audigy and GeForce4 MX 440 with most recent patches

Don't know what else to say. You've seen the errors I was getting above and they went away with the SP3.

I hope at least one person has this help them. I was absolutely stunned I could play after doing that. I was ready to get a refund!

Oh, and try everything you can, because this game is superbly done!

Any suggestions for me? I don't want to have to return the game, but I'll have to if I can't play it.

Well, I'd say atleast wait till we get the patch out which should be Wednesday. I can't promise that it solves the problems but things have been adjusted quite a bit.

Have you tried?

Is everyone having this problem running a GeForce? It seems to be a common ground for each having the problme, most of you have updated your directX but you might want to update your video drivers as well. Grab the latest detonator drivers from www.nvidia.com

Good Luck, let me know if that work.

ZXLT,

What is your exact problem with the game?
You have Win2000 Pro. What Service Pack do you have loaded?
You will need to load the most recent updates to your video card and audio card. Have you done this already?

Mine crashes after I click on "Swing Away", I don't know if that's what you're encountering. I run Win98 with DX 9

i'm getting the same "OOTP5 has generated errors and will be closed by windows" error on my work PC.

Win 2k SP3

Does everyone have GeForce's rosters? Could this be the issue?
