Outfielder Darrell Brown got into 16 games with the 1981 Detroit Tigers. Here is a watermarked image posted on ebay by kylesportscards.

Some Topps Vault photos are posted in original or edited form on baseball-birthdays.net. That site also has zip files of the images available for download.

The Padre is ex-Dodger ex-Expo outfielder Jim Fairey, in camp in 1975, I think. The Phil catcher is a mystery to me.

George Riley 1979

Not Topps, but one I took in 1980. Not bad...

Mike Vail 1975

Not the greatest image I ever recorded, but given the brevity of his stay in Cleveland in 1978, not bad...

Could the Phillie catcher be Mike Lavalliere? He started out in the Philadelphia organization, and played a few major league games in 1984.

Larry Lintz 1973

Also surprised to have found this in my "pile" - particularly since it appears he spent about two weeks (just three games) with the 1978 Indians, and then left the majors for good.

I agree with Terry D.
That appears to be Mike Lavaliere in the photo in 23588.

Any quality color pics that can better this one (or the SSPC one) of Larry as a Cardinal circa 1975 in your pile Merkle? Or anyone else's?

Thanks in advance!

Merkle923 - you continue to amaze me....Lintz the Indian was one of my personal white whales....yet here he is. Vail too, for that matter. Any other rarities in your 'pile'? I'm still looking for some hard-to-find '78ers, including more Indians...

1978 Indians

Just a quick follow-up - Looks like you were at Yankee Stadium on May 23 or 25, '78 - these were the only games the Tribe played in NY while Lintz was on the roster, thought he didn't wind up playing in either game. Without checking, I assume you're the source of the 2 Dennis Kinney action images posted a while back in this forum - I thought the Kinney photos could help me narrow the date more precisely, but he happened to pitch in both games. The Indians lost by a combined total of 19-4...typical.

Has anyone had any success finding photos of Mike Marshall in a Phillies' uniform? I filed the team photo with Chattanooga in 1964 but he was in the Phillies' system from 1961-65. Thought surely he'd logged some spring face time with the big club.

As I said upthread I saw Marshall's Topps file. They did three shoots with him: at Yankee Stadium, 1967; Mudhens shoot at Toledo, 1968; and Seattle Pilots spring training, 1969.

To my knowledge he was never considered a prospect by the Phils, as a shortstop or a pitcher.

The Mystery Phillies Catcher

I'm trying to remember why I dismissed Lavalliere as a candidate when that Topps image appeared several months ago. I still don't think it's him.

Firstly, Lavalliere was never on a Phillies' spring training roster - not to say he wasn't in camp - we're going to have to hit old media guides to check that out.

Secondly, there is a photo of Lavalliere with the Phils in '84, and though the build is similar I don't think the facial matchups are close. Freckles? Curly hair? The one advantage we have is, this second pose shows his uniform number. It's a starting point.
