Contract Maximum?

I am trying to claim a player from waivers. I am getting the contract maximum reached dialog.

On my contracts list in the lower left it says 49/50.

Doesn't this mean I can still sign one more player?

It should. Do you have any contract offers still open? It'll list them on the Open Offers section of the manager home screen.

I do not. The Open Offers section is empty.

I traded a player for a pick and now I am at 48/50.

And I still can't claim a player.

Please help.

Can you upload the save? Instructions here. We should be able to figure out what's going wrong if we can have a look at it.

I think the problem may be the free agent offer system not applying the rule on NHL-contracted players in the CHL. You actually have 51 contracts right now, but Dobson and Wilde qualify for the CHL exemption. So the contract screen correctly shows 49, but I'm guessing the check when you try to sign a new contract is seeing you're over 50 and not allowing the signing, which it shouldn't be doing. We'll get that fixed (or, if that isn't it, find the actual cause.)

I traded two more players for picks. Now it says I have 46 contracts. And I still can't claim a player on waivers.

Odd. I wonder if that flag isn't getting reset when the number of players drops below 50 again, we'll have to check that, too.

Hi Jeff, I am having the same problem with just 43 players under contract. I've seen it before and then it passes, so I wonder if it's not a mid-season lock of some sort that is lifted after the trade deadline -- something like that.

I don't know why anyone (at OOTP) needs to "guess". And accordingly that we should still have to "wonder". I provided a game that demonstrates it. Reproducing it should not be an issue.

I am not pleased with this level of response for a problem that cripples a saved game.
