And [%personname l] is in the Text Database. No typo there. Must be Markus' problem to fix. I have no idea why the new stories are clipping off initial letters. I'll BZ both of these occurrences. Thanks for posting the errors. We appreciate the help. Lol. Heh, maybe he got traded during the play - he is pretty fast (actually, that makes no sense, either).
Anyway, I came here with my own Short PbP problem (Eugene, again this year, please excuse any repetitions; too lazy to scan through this megathread). The batter up was Schmidt, and he walked . . .

Not applicable to OOTP, but a player could get traded while on base, if the game was suspended

The important thing is to point out the errors, so that they can be fixed. Thanks for helping make the PBP better and more error-free. |

targy, thanks for posting these errors.
I think Markus has to fix them. I don't see a category in the Text Database. I'll BZ them. BZ#3323 Title: Error in Message ID 240 - Seems to have two subjects combined Last edited by Eugene Church; 06-24-2009 at 12:03 AM. |

Here's one I had in PBP after latest patch...
ground ball to second... Ransom picks it up... and throws to first for the out. Ransom is favoring the ankle he planted. But he's walking it off now... and appears to be good to go. It looks like Cody Ransom was injured on the play... and they have to take him out of the ballgame. |

The first 6 lines form a single object. It is conditioned for extremely rare use. The last 2 lines (hardcoded) appear only when an injury occurs. It is pure coincidence that these two parts would appear together. One in a million chance, I'll bet.

That one could really rationalized, I think, and be part of the immersion. If we consider the PbP to be the boys in the broadcast booth then it's not that big of a deal that they make a call that the player's good to go and then a few seconds later the player decides he's too injured to continue.

This is believable. Not perfect, but believable. Would have been better if the announcers retracted their observation after the player departed. But we know that is not possible presently. This is a fantasy game... can't I fantasize a little? |

In a move analysts had been predicting for weeks, Casey Stengel was given the axe as Brooklyn manager today. An anonymous team source told BNN "the Dodgers have been a rudderless ship for a while now. Person didn't seem fully focused on the job, seemed distracted. Something was going on there. We need a new guy to step in and really take charge." Stengel's replacement has not yet been named.
