most dominant pitcher ever?
I picked up this SP after I noticed he got 400+K's the previous year. This is the best guy I have ever seen in my leagues. Anyone else see studs like this come along in your league?

It's his K's ratings that are so amazing. Take that away and he is just a "good" pitcher. It'd be fun to see him play if OOTP had a graphical representation

The most dominant pitcher in the JOBL so far is Aaron Duran. Doesn't have the strike out ability, but more than makes up for it by not allowing hits. Career OAVG is 0.150

That would be Hartford's David McCullough. He is still active, and he won 6 Cy Youngs so far and lead the league in WHIP 13 years in a row and in ERA 8 years in a row.
In his last season he was 26-1 with an ERA of 1.43, including a no-hitter, the best I saw so far. He's 36 now and is still a contender for another Cy Young Trophy or two. Edit: I can't count :P Last edited by Eumel; 04-07-2003 at 07:28 PM. |

Takajirou Haranobu
Takajirou Haranobu was the best I ever had. Started out as a OOTP4 career, finished it in OOTP5. He was absolutely the man.
6-time Cy Young winner, including 5 straight from 2008-2012, and then again in 2014. Absolutely disgusting that he didn't win in 2013, when he went 26-6 with a 1.91 ERA, 330 K's and a 0.90 WHIP. But, he didn't win. Here's the man:

With Bratten, isn't that over 15 K/9 IP?
Did any other starter ever come close to that in real life? Nolan Ryan? Randy Johnson? I'm not much of a historian, but at a glance, Matt Kilroy had 513 Ks in 1887- though he pitched 583 innings. The best I could find was Johnson in '01- 372 in 249.2. But that's only around 13.5/9.

That guy Takajirou won almost 250 games before he ever started one!? Wait, but he still had complete games. What happened there?

I'm guessing those are the years the league was in OOTP4.

I bet the years where it doesn't show any games started were OOTP4 years and the GS stat got lost when he moved to OOTP5.

In the CDL (the premier OOTP historical online league, now in its 17th season and boasting more than eight message board posts in the last five calendar months), Steve Carlton of the St. Louis Cardinals struck out 447 men in 1974, and even that was only 13 K/9.
