What's the Best Way to Move a Team to New City?

I play a fictional game and I'm in year 21. I play out all games, so this league has taken nearly 7 real years to get to this point. After keeping all the teams the same after 21 years, I would like to "move" two teams to two new cities.

What is the best way to do this in the game?

Thank you!

Wow! Great accomplishment. I don't know if this is considered the best way but I go League Setting then Leagues and Teams and then just change the team name and nickname from that screen. I know if you do it this way the former team name will show in the historical index under the new team name. Probably other ways of doing it, but I know this works and it keeps your historical integrity.

I was wondering if anyone else could verify this is the best way to move a team from one city to another?

I don't think it is.

For me, the best route would be under Team Settings. There, you can change the city name in the first field, then you would need to select a matching city in the "Select Exact City" dropdown, after searching for it in the field above.

League Setup - Leagues and Teams. Make your changes here so they reflect properly throughout the league.

Once that is done, go to the Team Settings Page and change the uniforms, logo, etc. Also might want to rename your ballpark in the new city.

You will also want to adjust fan interest, market size, etc for your new city.

Any other questions just post them here. I'll check back later today.

Cheers

Will the history be maintained and linked with the historical team? What about minor league teams - still stay the same? Also, will the schedule generate at beginning of new season as always? Note that the team is only changing city and team name, not division.

Is there any ideal time this all should be done? I’m just at the start of the offseason (October).

Thanks!

History will be maintained. The old team name will show in small print below the new team name in league history, Teams listing. Much like BBRef.

Minors are up to you, you have to move them also if that's what you want. The affiliations will remain unless you change them.

Won't need a new schedule if all you change is team name, only if you move them around in divisions/sub leagues. The team number stays the same.

1st day of off season is fine too. The changes will be reflected right away and should reflect in history when the league rolls over to the new year Dec 31/Jan 1
